One of the things I love about the internet is that every now and then I find something cute and interesting and then it makes me want to learn more about it. The other day I was browsing through youtube videos of cute animals and found a clip where an otter was juggling a rock and through that video I found other videos of otters juggling rocks. So I started searching for more information. But before I continue, check out this cute video of an otter juggling two small rocks.
Anyway, here are some of the things I found through this Wikipedia link: 1. Sea otters are one of the few mammals that use tools. They use rocks to break open preys that have hard shells. They eat while floating on their backs. 2. Otters are the only marine animals capable of lifting and turning over rocks. 3. In another link I also read that they juggle rocks because they have to handle slippery food, so they have to hone their skills.
4. Sea otters eat approximately 25% of their weight in food each day to support their high metabolism. (Source: Sea Otter) ---> I'm ENVIOUSof their high metabolism! At this age it's getting harder and harder to lose weight compared to when I was still in my twenties. In the Wikipedia page, I also found out that during mating, the male bites the nose of the female. Ewwwwww...that doesn't sound like a nice mating ritual at all, especially considering the fact that oftentimes the nose becomes bloody and scarred. Are they masochistic or something? LOL!!! Anyway, I won't share too many facts here because you can read them in the links that I've shared.
Last but not least, here's a video of an otter actually using a rock to break open some clams:
1. It took a wooden splinter in my ankle and a sore back to remind me of how amazingly the body works when it's fully well. That it takes so many muscles to move without pain when you try to get up from a lying down position and when you try to move around and change your positions. And the piece of wooden splinter reminds me of the fact that my body is still able to send me an "alarm" when something foreign is entering my body.
2. Yesterday hubby and I visited a couple of animals in captive, namely bears, a sleepy fox, and a lynx. I took some videos, but they have to wait until later. :-D Btw, I fell in love with the gorgeous lynx. :-D
3. We did go bowling and it was fun. :-D My first time ever!!! And I even accidentally scored a strike!!!! YEEEEAAAAHHHHH!!! :-D
4. Mirrow-like surfaces. They always take my breath away.
5. My Mom's going to visit some relatives with her sister and nieces. Glad to know she's going to have fun with them. :-D
6. Hot ginger-orange flavoured tea on a cool day. Mmmmmmmmm... 7. Getting along well with not only parents-in-laws but also BIL and SIL is a blessing. :-D
On Friday right after work, we went to the cabin. R2 could go back home earlier 'coz he had done some overtime before, so I didn't have to wait at home for him to come back home. I took SO many pictures 'coz many of my MIL's flowers have bloomed and there are also some interesting creatures in the garden he he he he...

First pic: Saw this funny-looking bumblebee with those orange parts on its hind legs. Actually MIL spotted it first, so I also took a video of it 'coz it was TOO hard to take a good pic of it - it kept on moving about unpredictably. Busy bumblebee he he...

MIL and I also pulled out some weeds from her strawberry field, she also noticed this white spider. It was SO tiny and SHY!!! It kept on hiding under the leaves, so I had to turn them around to take some pics of it. That was my thumb on the first pic btw.

Last but not least, we had the privilege to see a family of black grouse (teeri) when we drove back to my in-laws' place from the cabin. Unfortunately couldn't take clear shots of them from inside the car (I didn't dare get out 'coz I was afraid they'd run away to the woods). Here are two clearer pics of them:

Then the guide guided us toward the path toward the cabin where we could grill our own sausages. Here was what we saw on the journey to the cabin:

At the entrance of the park, she left us to go back to the office since they were understaffed during this low season. So with the sun on our back and smiles on our faces, we went our way (it was around 1,2 km) and look what we sawwwwwwww on the way there:
Our teacher told us that the above tree happened to have such kind of bark because of the wind. Since the wind was so strong, so it grew in a circular motion. Thus it created such a pattern. Interesting, isn't it? ;-D

Anyway, after such a nice walk, we finally found the cabin to grill our sausages HE HE HE HE HE HE...

And this is me standing near the stairs leading further down the park. We didn't go there, though, as we didn't have time to do so. As you can see in the pic, I've got lots of reddish spots due to acnes. :-((( DARN acnes...ah well, but I'm still cute, am I not? LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL!!!!
