Reactions

Been SO busy with work and everything else. A coworker has resigned after taking some sick leave for a few weeks and then two more coworkers are sick this week, so we're three people down and it's been quite rough because it's summer and thankfully our store has been very busy (busier than last year! Even a summer coworker who worked last year noticed the difference), but that means that our work pace has been very very hectic. I'm really looking forward to our holiday and I also hope we can get a new steady coworker soon to replace the one that left, because at this rate we're all going to be too exhausted.

I've been having trouble with some mosquito bites. They're getting redder and bigger. The worst one has grown into about 1.5 x 3 cm long with a watery bump at one part. Ugh...it was painful yesterday and very very itchy (not so bad today). Actually I'm not sure if they're only bitten by mosquitoes because at that time there were other smaller, more invisible bugs as well. Because I sweat a lot at work and I have to wear work jeans, I think they also keep on grazing those bites and make them even worse, so today I went to the health care centre and was told to keep spreading a thick layer of hydrocortisone cream and taking antihistamine this week, but if they got worse I should come back there. Let's see how it goes...

I had one of the worst PMS symptoms the other week. I almost blew up in fume twice at work (imagine Donald Duck's red face whenever he gets SO angry), but thankfully I managed to stop myself and calm myself down in between. Phew! Exercising at home helped pump up some endorphins. One day I was very tired and grumpy and it was my day to exercise, but I managed to force myself to do it even though I didn't feel like it. And as usual, I felt much better afterwards (pat myself on the back) he he...

Yesterday was also my exercise day, but I skipped because I had had trouble sleeping during the night because of the itch, so I took some anthistamine after work and then fell asleep for a few hours. And still during the night I could go to bed in time. This time around I went to the pharmacy to buy another type of antihistamine that won't make me feel sleepy, because the last time around I was still so tired at work because I had a very early shift. Anyway, my silent relief from the stress and hectic pace at work is the countdown to our holiday. I really really need it and I've promised myself I'm going to have a full body massage at least three times during our holiday he he he he...Hubby once joked, "Only three times? Why not every day?" Yeah, right LOL!!!!

The Computer Counted Wrongly!

Last night I was reading a Finnish blog that told stories about troublesome customers and I was reminded of an occasion with an older guy. He's one of our regular customers and he's a very friendly guy, but he's very keen on checking everything up on his receipt. For example, a few times he came by to buy a few of that day's offers, but he took the wrong ones. Right after he packed things up, he always went to the side to check the receipt. A few times he took the wrong products and he opted to return them and then he'd ask the cashier to go get him the right products (that were on offer that day).

One time, though, I was at the cashier and he bought some products and then went to the side, took out his mobile phone and started counting. I was serving other customers, but I could see what he was doing from the corner of my eyes. After a while, he came back towards me and said, "Hey, the computer counted wrongly! Look at the receipt! The machine counted wrongly!"

I was busy serving other customers, so I asked him to wait and I pressed the buzzer to call my coworker to help out. While waiting, he kept on saying, "I recounted each item with my mobile phone and the sum I got wasn't the same." I was a bit annoyed by then because this time it wasn't about getting the wrong products or anything like that. I just couldn't imagine how the computer could have counted wrongly.

Anyway, my coworker came over and I explained the situation in brief to her and she went to the side with him after grabbing a calculator. At lightning speed she inputted each price and she said, "The sum is correct. See?" She shoved the calculator in front of him to show the total sum.

Confused, he still insisted by saying, "But I counted them using my own mobile phone's calculator and I came up with a different sum!"

So my coworker gave him the calculator and told him to input each price all over again while both of them checked/said out loud the price of each item. After checking everything this way in a much slower fashion, he was finally satisfied. He said, "Oh, I guess I must have done something wrong." For all it's worth, though, he did say thank you to the both of us after all the hassle, but still nobody else had done this kind of thing before and after him and I must say that I haven't really met any troublemakers or customers that say harsh words (swear words) to me like what I read in the Finnish blog.

There was one funny story told in the Finnish blog. There was this old man going to a supermarket and this fellow was working there. The old man asked him if they had a certain brand of toilet paper rolls (actually the old man asked for some ass wipes!).

The fellow told him that they had other brands, but the old man got angry and shouted, "I DO NOT WANT this and that brand for my ass!!!! I want the brand I mentioned 'coz it's very soft! That's THE BEST kind of ass wipe I'd ever use for myself!!!! How dare you tell me that I should use other brands of paper to wipe my ass!!! This store is no good! At least I can get those beloved ass wipes from another store!"

Oh dear goodness!!!!!!

3BT: Random Days

1. Feeling whiny and angry (I suppose due to my raging hormones), but decided to sleep it off and it WORKED!!! I'm GLAD I took a long nap ho ho ho ho...

2. My (not-too-new) coworker (she helped out at the office the other month before I started) is a nice girl and we've been talking a bit about this and that. It's nice for a change to be able to communicate with someone else (other than the visitors) at the office. Plus I get to practise my Finnish!

3. Picked up the office phone and didn't understand a thing, even though I tried asking the caller to say it twice, so I gave up and I gave the phone to my boss. Even after that, I didn't curse myself, so that's an improvement!!! At least I tried, right? ;-D

I even told this story to my coworker and we both laughed at it. Being able to laugh at myself is one of my "late" improvements, 'coz for decades I couldn't do it.

Maybe it still takes a year or two before I can handle speaking on the phone with a native Finnish and static background noise he he he...

4. Rainy days don't dampen my mood. I still feel excited, especially about counting down to the days when I'll go back to Indo HUA HA HA HA HA HA HA...

5. Daydreaming about all those glorious types of food I can eat when I'm back in Indo. YUM YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMM...This daydream is sweet since I know it'll come true soon enough hi hi hi...

6. My hubby who bears with my mood swings. :-)))

7. Again I can't thank hubby enough for making me laugh so much, even when I have mood swings. It's SO much easier to live with someone who makes you laugh, you know? ;-D I had never thought he could be this funny, but I'm OH, SO GLAD that he is!

8. Being able to eat yoghurt every day and being able to buy more fresh veggies and fruit and being able to buy multivitamins (even though prices have gone up). Before hubby got a job and before I got unemployment money, we couldn't really afford to buy anything much.

P.S. I'll blog-hop later today, OK? Been so lazy in blogging he he he...
