3BT: Random Days

1. To see FIL's smile during our visit to the old people's home on Father's Day.

2. To see FIL's eyes flickering, trying to recognize the faces on the card that I printed for him (a pic of us and him). It was nice to see him interested like that.

3. The other day the temperature went up to above zero (most of the snow melted due to that), but thankfully it went colder again and it's been snowing afterwards. Winter Wonderland is BACK!!!! :-D

4. Seeing the neighbour kid rolling around on the thick snow today. :-D

5. I accidentally spilled something on my clean fleece vest, but thankfully I have another one to wear (and it's newly washed and fragrant mmmmhhh...). :-D

6. The moment I wake up from a tiring dream/nightmare and realizing, "Phew! I'm glad it's just a dream and now it's over!!!"

7. Being able to give better advice to customers on where to look for things in my workplace because now I remember more about the products and their locations.

8. Talking on the phone for the first time with one blogger friend. FUN!!! :-D

9. The first time I cooked kaalilaatikko (cabbage casserole) and it was a success (R2 said I could cook it again later). I ate some with gusto after shoveling the very heavy snow outside. :-D

10. I've healed very well after the molar tooth extraction and I've been eating normally again since last weekend (though in the beginning I didn't dare to chew on tough food on that side). :-D

11. Having a job that I enjoy doing. :-D

12. Seeing hubby try to hold back his laughter but his quivering nostrils betrayed him. It was such a funny sight that I couldn't help laughing like a mad woman! :-D

13. Laughing uncontrollably for no reason - that caused hubby to do #11. And the crazy laughing cycle continued! :-D

Communication Styles

The other day I was talking to a friend via email about communication styles. Some people aren't that good at keeping in touch via emails (they're better at doing this over the phone or face-to-face). Some people are better at communicating via emails rather than face-to-face or over the phone. Some people are good at communicating using all those means of communication.

Personally speaking, I'm not too fond of communicating over the phone, except when it comes to talking to my friends or those people I know pretty well. If I have to call the authorities or do stuff like that, I feel more comfortable asking first via emails (if it is an option). First of all, it's easier to forget what I'm supposed to ask (if I have to ask about many things over the phone) and when you talk to someone over the phone or face-to-face, it's easier to lose track of what you really want to say 'coz the topics may change quickly depending on the other person's reactions/responses. Sometimes there are also other distractions in real life that halt the conversation even before it's finished.

When it comes to emails, for me it's a better way to express your ideas/thoughts in some ways 'coz you can focus on what you really want to say/ask. You can even review and rewrite your points/questions before sending it. The problem is whether or not the other party will read and reply it.

One friend of mine says that she prefers talking over the phone or in real life 'coz she wants immediate responses/answers. However, having lived apart from my family and friends, we've learnt to use email as a more frequently used media of communication. Up till now, I'm still not too fond of speaking over the phone, esp. if I have to use Finnish HA HA HA HA HA HA...

3BT: Random Days

1. Feeling whiny and angry (I suppose due to my raging hormones), but decided to sleep it off and it WORKED!!! I'm GLAD I took a long nap ho ho ho ho...

2. My (not-too-new) coworker (she helped out at the office the other month before I started) is a nice girl and we've been talking a bit about this and that. It's nice for a change to be able to communicate with someone else (other than the visitors) at the office. Plus I get to practise my Finnish!

3. Picked up the office phone and didn't understand a thing, even though I tried asking the caller to say it twice, so I gave up and I gave the phone to my boss. Even after that, I didn't curse myself, so that's an improvement!!! At least I tried, right? ;-D

I even told this story to my coworker and we both laughed at it. Being able to laugh at myself is one of my "late" improvements, 'coz for decades I couldn't do it.

Maybe it still takes a year or two before I can handle speaking on the phone with a native Finnish and static background noise he he he...

4. Rainy days don't dampen my mood. I still feel excited, especially about counting down to the days when I'll go back to Indo HUA HA HA HA HA HA HA...

5. Daydreaming about all those glorious types of food I can eat when I'm back in Indo. YUM YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMM...This daydream is sweet since I know it'll come true soon enough hi hi hi...

6. My hubby who bears with my mood swings. :-)))

7. Again I can't thank hubby enough for making me laugh so much, even when I have mood swings. It's SO much easier to live with someone who makes you laugh, you know? ;-D I had never thought he could be this funny, but I'm OH, SO GLAD that he is!

8. Being able to eat yoghurt every day and being able to buy more fresh veggies and fruit and being able to buy multivitamins (even though prices have gone up). Before hubby got a job and before I got unemployment money, we couldn't really afford to buy anything much.

P.S. I'll blog-hop later today, OK? Been so lazy in blogging he he he...
