3BT: Random Days

1. Hearing someone else I just met praise hubby (he got to know R2 through work). :-) He said, "You've got a great guy." Thank you for your genuine compliment! :-D

2. Spending quality time with family over Midsummer and having BBQ twice outside despite the cool weather. We had some chicken fajitas with tortilla wraps and then some sausages. Grilled sausages are the best! :-D

3. Seeing two sides of the rainbow.

4. Taking these photos after lots of rain.

5. Having time to recharge and think (and rest).

Lost Photos

ARRRRRRGGHHHHH!!!! I just did something stupid! I've just added a new memory card to my mobile to make sure I have enough room for my photos. After the memory card was added, I transferred the photos I took with my mobile straight to that memory card. The problem is that it automatically started numbering my photos from zero again. I was transferring the photos to My Pictures and for some reason I must've clicked the wrong option, so the photos that had the same numbers as the older photos I had transferred to my HD were gone. And the stupid thing was that I didn't even check first, so right after the photos were transferred, I deleted the files from my mobile. Dohhhh!!!

They're not really such important photos (thankfully), but still it's a shame to lose those photos. Next time I will never delete before checking first. Here are some of the photos that didn't get lost. I made some more kaleidoscope photos the other week.

Here are two original photos:

And the kaleidoscope versions of those photos:

I actually had other versions of the kaleidoscope photos (in one of them, it showed that R2 with two heads), but unfortunately they got lost. Ugh! Oh well...

Anyhow, the beginning of summer here has been CCCCCOOOOOOLLLLDDDD. Yesterday was not such a bad day because the sun was partly shining and when the clouds weren't covering it, it was warm enough to sunbathe outside (with a jacket still 'coz the wind was cold). Back in May we had a day that was as warm as 20'C, but after that it just went downhill. The weather prediction for this week is so bad that we're still using our winter blanket (usually by this time we're already using our summer blanket). That said, I've planted some flowers in our flower bed outside.

Midnight Film Sun Festival has come and gone. I've seen lots of tourists wearing woolen hats and winter jackets as the nights were brrrrr he he he he he...The best thing about this year's Midnight Sun Film Festival was the sushi being sold in one of the stands (well, actually a car)! In a place where there's no Chinese or Asian restaurant, it's a treat! :-D

This is the delicious sushi portion that I had when I went out with my friends to check out the crowd. €11 per portion. I really hope they'll come back next year he he he he...

OK, I'll do some blog-hopping now, but before I leave, enjoy this music:

Raindrops #3

It's been raining again today, so of course I had to spend time having fun taking some pics. Today I decided to gear up even better than yesterday. I even put on my winter gloves so that the mozzies couldn't bite me through them. Here was what I was wearing:

However, I found some blurry photos, so I decided to wait up before going back outside. This time I decided not to wear the pair of jeans (only leggings) because I only wanted to take a few photos. Baaaddd decision! The back of my left leg is now covered with three hot spots, but I think it's worth it anyway he he he he he he...Managed to snap a few better photos. It was hard to hold steady without using a tripod (didn't want to bother even though we have one).

Some of the photos may look similar, but they're taken from a slightly different angle, showing a slight difference of the raindrop patterns.

Enjoy the photos! Time for my exercise now! :-D

Summer Cold

So it seems what they say about summer colds is true. They say it's harder to get over it than winter cold/flu. I still have some cough and phlegm/snot, but at least I can sleep through the night again. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY!!! I love my sleep! A coworker of mine also had some cough for 3 weeks.

It doesn't feel like summer is here (it's about 10'C at the moment and it's already midday). In fact, it feels like autumn already. I'm glad I didn't plant any other plants outside because they may not make it. My sunflower was already starting to show signs of being dead, so I took it to the compost bin instead. The other plants around the house haven't even started blooming yet and I doubt if they're going to bloom at all. Usually by this time around the rose bushes have already produced lots of flowers. Oh well, can't control the weather, but to remind myself of the lovely fragrant roses, here's a pic of the rose bush in July 2010:

And here are a few more pics of the raindrops that I haven't published yet. In the pic below you can see the garden decoration made of stone, painted to look like a giant ladybird.

Oh, and some cat photos I took last month. Not ours, but our nephew's he he...Ginger cats always remind me of my cat back in Indo. RIP my cat!

3BT: Random Days

1. Hubby said during one of our talks, "Why would anything go wrong when I have you?"

Bless him!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-D

He's not a traditional romantic guy, but he has his moments and I think because it's unpredictable when he can be this romantic, these moments get even more precious.

2. Seeing someone who clearly enjoys what he or she is doing (for example singing). I'm rooting for James Smith:

3. Sunbathing outside in the yard without being bothered by mosquitoes (it's 18'C outside and sunny YAY!).

4. Doing number 3 above while drinking cold blended fruit juice made of strawberries, cloudberries, grapes, bananas, and an apple (no additional sugar). Refreshing!

5. Been playing a lot of Wii Cardio Workout (boxing) and noticing the changes in my body. My upper arms look more toned than before! I'm going to continue!

6. Hubby has been trying the same Wii game and sometimes we play side-by-side he he he he...It's more fun that way! :-D

7. Planting some pansies outside and then adding an additional sunflower in a pot because I found a cheap one ha ha ha...(photos will be uploaded later). Summer is here! :-D

8. Staying away from Facebook has done me a world of good. These days I only check it out for brief moments during the day and I don't post as regularly anymore. Ah...bliss!

Sitio Litre Orchid Garden

One of the places we visited in Puerto de la Cruz was The Orchid Garden in Sitio Litre. The entrance fee costs € 4,75/person. It's not such a huge garden, but it's the oldest surviving garden in Tenerife. It's been owned continuously by British families since 1730 (according to the brochure). Funny thing is that the information in the brochure is also translated in Finnish. In fact, there are many restaurant menus in Finnish as well. I think there have been lots and lots of Finnish tourists going there for years. They even speak a little Finnish at the hotel where we stayed at.

Anyway, there have been plenty of famous guests in the parties thrown in this particular garden, including William Wilde (father of Oscar Wilde) and Agatha Christie.

Here are some photos of the garden.

The entrance:

The Koi pond near the entrance where guests could sit down and sunbathe ha ha...

The cute souvenir shop (at that time it was still closed). It sells some seeds as well (plant/flower seeds) at €1/bag. It also sells paintings as well as other stuff. Funnily enough, I noticed some used books/novels sold there, as well he he he...

Other parts of the garden...they have a separate section for the orchids.

Here is my hand as comparison (I know my hand is small, but still the red flowers are HUGE!).

Agatha Christie and a character in one of her novels:

Here are the orchid section:

And at the back of the garden there's this 600-year-old tree.

There's also this funny-looking bare tree near the tree above.

There's a small cafe at the back of the garden, but we continued our journey and we found this tree with a HUGE trunk on our way back to the front of the garden. Again I'm aware that I'm small (only 145 cm) but still that tree trunk is huge he he he...

I took a photo from below to capture the upper side of the tree.

And after walking further away, I managed to capture (almost) the entire tree:

Had fun on R2's expense before going out...don't the papayas look like a hat? HA HA HA...Papaya Hat LOL!!!
