Wet Midsummer Eve

I survived the tough work week without having to go to the doc, even though I had to ask to switch a shift with another friend because I was scheduled to work close to food and I still had a runny nose and an annoying cough. Thankfully Thursday night I managed to sleep non-stop because I really needed the rest, so on Friday everything went OK.

Went to Kelujärvi right after work. It was raining and R2 was adamant in grilling some food outside ha ha ha ha...it was about 3'C. It kept on raining and raining and raining, but at some point it turned into very light rain, so R2 went out to light the grill ha ha ha ha...by the time the food was done, it rained even more. 

It also rained for hours on end today until the sky finally cleared up at around 6 pm and then the sun started shining. The temperature at the moment is around 10'C (under the sun probably around 12'C). 

The good thing about all the rain was that I got lots of shots of beautiful raindrops on plants. :-D Enjoy the photos! :-D I'm still recuperating from the runny nose and the cough (it's amazing how much mucus and phlegm a single body can produce, I tell ya!) and yesterday for some reason my stomach was acting up (had to go to the toilet 7 times that day), but thankfully today is a better day. 3BT: Random Days

1. MIL hugging me tightly and saying, "My daughter." (Note: She only has 3 sons without any daughters)

3. My kangkong plant is still going strong - still growing so well despite the fact that I've been keeping it indoors ever since the weather became colder. Here goes:



5. Going back to my in-laws' house yesterday 'coz hubby needed to change his tyres into winter tyres and he kept the tyres there. Boy, how I missed the place!

6. Noticing that some of my MIL's roses, which were put in the hallway of the house, are still blooming beautifully despite the fact that some of them have wilted.


7. Eating one of the most delicious chocolate torte ever!!! I LOVE the moist texture! :-D

8. After not having exercised for a while (due to my illness the other week) and despite my laziness, I managed to kick my ass and start my exercise regime again. YAAAAAAAYYY!!!

9. Daydreamingggg about something hi hi hi...

3BT: July 6th, 2010

1. The hottest day this summer at around 28'C under the sun (about 24'C under the shade).

2. Went to a nearby store to find myself a pair of jeans. My budget was only 15 Euros (I found a pair of jeans there at that price before) and found a pair that cost only 5 Euros (they were on a discount). YAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY!!!

3. Because of #2 above, decided to buy a bottle of massage oil (for me and hubby to use later on before we change the bed sheets ahem...) and two bags of hubby's fave candies (salmiakki mix).

4. Slathered lots of mosquito repellent to read in the garden and enjoy the weather. Felt grand to read in the garden surrounded by beautiful yellow flowers all around you. (Note: I did sit on the swing set for a while, but it was too hot, so I moved to a shady place)


5. Watching the bees busily looking for nectar here and there all around me.

6. Lying down to enjoy the sky and the breeze in the shade and feeling sleepy after a while he he he...





7. Watch my plants growing (esp. by comparing their pics taken last month versus their conditions today).

8. Despite the fact that hubby snores and sometimes I have to kick him to change his position if he happens to fall asleep first, I can sleep better with him by my side than when I sleep alone.

9. The quietness of this place is such a BLESSING. While lying down in the garden, I could only hear the occasional sound of vehicles passing by the street and if I had let myself, I would have fallen asleep.

Gardening Question + Buds!!!

BUDS! I see BUDS in my garden patch!!! Here are some pics:





YIIIPPPPPPPPPPPIIIIIIIIIEEE!!! Hope they grow! I haven't seen too many buds in the front row, though. I hope they'll come later. :-D

Now I have a question to those plant lovers. What do I have to do with this patch of dead roses??? Any advice would be MUCH appreciated, THANK YOU!!!

Today we've been raking dead leaves from the yard for hours. Now we're tired and we're going to sauna later. WOOOHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! I'll blog-hop some more later on. ;-D

One Blessing Untold

Oh dear...in my hurry I forgot to add this one to my 3BT post. Last Saturday when we went to my MIL's place, she told me with a joyful glimmer in her eyes that she was knitting house slippers for me. She showed me a pair of house slippers that were finished already, but she quickly added, "These are NOT for you. These are just for practise. I'll make you a pair of prettier house slippers."

Awwwwwwwwww...she's just SO sweet!!! I was once thinking of learning how to knit, but then again if I am able to knit, I'll rob her joys of being able to give me something she knits herself. Hmmm...well, we'll see. Maybe someday I'll learn how to knit, too he he...

Meanwhile, there are now plenty seeds of different types of being sold online since spring is coming soon and I'm thinking of buying some flower seeds for her. After all, she has a green thumb (unlike me, who keeps on killing plants!!!). If you're reading this, Arttu's brother, DO NOT tell Mom about this, okay? Just keep quiet as I want to surprise her he he he he...

Okay, soon Arttu will be home, so I'd better eat first before we go do some more stuff in our new apartment then. I miss blog-hopping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But I don't want to blog-hop in a rush and write my comments in a rush, so see you after we move, okay?

A New Policy in Indonesia

The other day when I talked to my Mom via Skype, she told me some funny/weird stories he he he he...

First of all, in Bandung, my hometown, there's a new policy for newlyweds who are going to sign their marriage certificate in the registrar office. As I said before, in Indonesia newlyweds MUST obtain a marriage certificate first from their own religious offices (with the stamp of their church or Mosque or temple) before they can sign their official marriage certificate in the registrar office. Without the official marriage certificate, your kids can experience trouble in the future (I'm not sure what kind of trouble there can be but I've heard some vague stories about this).

Nowadays since the President has commenced the planting of 1 million trees all over Indonesia, the registrar office has told the newlyweds to bring TWO types of trees there before they can sign their marriage certificate. They have to bring an orchid and a mahogany. Isn't that funny?

Thankfully my bro's wife's Dad was the one looking for those trees, so my parents didn't have to worry about all that. Bless him!!!

Anyway, I told one of my friends about this and she started being fiery right away. She was afraid that it was all some kind of collusion. She was afraid that the registrar office would get the trees BACK to the places that sold the trees so that the owners of those places could split the profit with the people in the registrar office. This kind of thing happens A LOT in Indonesia, by the way!!! I wouldn't wonder IF they did such a thing, but I don't want to think about it 'coz I don't wanna fume inside he he he...

The second funny story was the angpao (envelope with money inside) given by my bro's wife's colleague. Her colleague had gotten married already years back and he gave her four types of condoms in the envelope, though he also inserted money inside HA HA HA HA HA HA...

My Mom was laughing while telling the story. Crazy colleagues!!!! Some people just LOVE teasing the newlyweds so much (remember that free sex is frowned upon in Indonesia, even though some teenagers have done it already discreetly).

After my bro and wife got back to work, the naughty colleague asked her, "So, have you tried them? Which one do you like best?"

My bro's wife was smart enough to reply with another question, "Which one do YOU like best?"

However, the guy was also smart enough to answer like this, "The BEST kind is WITHOUT using it!" HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA...

Today we're going to go to a supermarket to buy some grocery for my mother-in-law. We'll drop by there and then take one gift to bring to her elder sister who had her birthday yesterday. Only tomorrow morning we'll spend a night at my in-laws, so don't expect any post from me until Wednesday afternoon he he he he he he...

Speaking of my mother-in-law, she went to the doctor again since her ankle felt painful again. The doctor opened it up and checked it and put it on cast again and told her to drink medicine for 3 weeks and after that they'd take another X-ray of her ankle. Then I sent her an SMS (it was easier for me to communicate with her that way since I could write SMS with the help of the dictionary and I could read her reply with the help of the dictionary again), telling her that if she needed help to cook before X-mas Eve, we could go there earlier. Apparently she had already cooked everything, so she just said that she needed help serving the food and cleaning everything up on X-mas Eve.

Gee...she's really one tough woman!!! I mean, she probably shouldn't have walked too much, right? Oh well...I did ask her not to walk too much ha ha ha ha ha...

Okie dokie....now it's time for me to have lunch before we go. I'm going to post the pictures of my plum-marmalade pastry later after Christmas, OK?
