My Passion is Purple
Breast Cancer Awareness Month
I read this post in Choc Mint Girl's blog and I decided to pass the pink penguin. Go here to read her post: Please Pass The Pink Penguin.
Before reading that post, I didn't know that this month is breast cancer awareness month. Nobody in my immediate or extended family has suffered from this disease, but I know how serious it can be, so I'd love to spread this awareness among women.
My aunt had some lumps on her breast a few years back. Gladly she's fine now after an operation and her breasts are still intact. I think for women, it's such a scary thought to find something wrong with our special parts, don't you think so?
Anyway, it'd be great if you'd write a post about this topic and help spread the pink penguin. Besides, I think the pink penguin looks SO cute. ;-D

"My aunt'd inspired us to do a regular check-up and not just take it easy before it's too late."
So let's stay healthy and be aware, ladies!!!

Car and Weather
First of all...Sorry, Karen (Water Learner), my strawberry bread came out weird. As usual, the taste is GOOD, but the form isn't he he he...so you have to wait until next time. I don't want to take a pic of it here (too embarrassed) hi hi hi...
Speaking of weather, Saturday morning when we were about to leave to my in-laws', there was a thin layer of ice all over our car's windshield. At first I thought it was morning dew, but hubby had to scrape it with a kind of tool so that we could see ahead.
He said that it was 'coz the temperature had been below zero during the night. When I woke up, it was only 0'C but then the day turned out sunny, so the temperature rose to 8'C. In the evening, it went down again to 4'C. I'm writing this down so that I can compare it with next year's weather he he he...
Speaking of car inspection, turned out our car didn't pass the inspection. And since it's already old, we were thinking of buying a newer one on installments (a used one, of course, not a brand new one). Coincidentally, hubby's eldest brother wants to sell his car and it's within our price range. So we're applying for a loan from the bank. The good thing about this is that we're going to visit them in Pori (southern Finland) to get the car. YIIIPPPIIIEEE!!! It'll be my first time to Pori!!!!!!!!! (I've only been to Helsinki and Kemi)
Since it's a long drive (about 12-hour per trip), we'll probably spend a night at their place. I'd LOVE to see their house (I've only seen pictures of it) he he he...

Reindeer/Moose Recipe
I thought I'd post this recipe just in case somebody's interested in trying to try cooking the meat Finnish style he he he...It's not that complicated!
PORONKÄRISTYS
(Fried Reindeer Meat)
500-600 grams of reindeer/moose meat
100 grams of butter
approx. 2 dl water (1 dl = 100 ml)
approx. 1 tsp salt
black pepper to taste
some beer with 4.7% alcohol level (approx. half a can)
How to Cook:
1. Cut the meat into thin slices. My hubby says that it's best to do it when the meat's still half frozen.
2. Dump all the meat in the pan and stir-fry it with butter until it's brown and add pepper and salt to taste.
3. Add water bit by bit and make sure to check on it every once in a while so the meat's not dry. Keep it simmering with medium heat for approximately an hour.
4. Add beer during the last 15-20 minutes (enough beer to soak the meat). Hubby says that beer will tenderize the meat.
That's all you need to do. Not hard, isn't it? It just takes time to let it simmer he he he...I've followed the recipe once, but I think I added a bit more water to the pan. Hubby says that if you put too many spices when you cook reindeer/moose meat, you'll take away the original reindeer/meat taste, so just make sure you only add black pepper and salt to taste. You can eat it with anything you want, either potatoes or rice. GOOD LUCK and bon appétit!!! ^_________________________________________^

Support the Movement: The Fight Against Child Abuse
This is a post written by NAFASG team. I couldn't help shuddering when reading it.
Yet, there are some who show no empathy and sensitivity towards these beautiful souls. Worse still, they would dunk themselves into physical violence and cruelty towards the children without even thinking twice. Such acts can deem someone to be worse than an animal, because even an animal has compassion and love for its young.
What is going on with this world? Why must such horrid acts be carried out? Why do these people ever exist in this world?
Please take this time to read this special message from us, and show your utmost support and sympathy towards the family of the late Nurin Jazlin, who passed away tragically and brutally at the age of only eight. Little Nurin Jazlin’s body was discovered in a gym bag on 17th September, one month after she was abducted. Upon the discovery, she was seen to be in the most horrifying state ever. Her hair was short and curled up, when it was originally straight and long. Her body was pale and badly bruised from head to toe, and there were traces of foreign objects like brinjal and cucumber found in the virginal area of her body.
Parents of the deceased took a long time to acknowledge her death, but eventually did after all the thorough DNA tests had been carried out by the forensics department. Her body was finally buried on 21st September. Her father, Jazimin Abdul Jalil, had expressed his sorrow towards this tragedy, stating that whoever who caused her death was not a human being, but rather, an animal.
This was the result of an outrage of modesty (See Picture On The Right) caused by a man of age between 35 and 40, who was thought to be someone who enjoyed torturing people, particularly children. Along with him was a 23-year-old lady, who was apparently his partner in crime. The lady had been found and called for questioning by the Malaysian authorities, whereas the man has yet to be found. Hence, we are urging all of you here to play your part in finding this serial killer cum sexual offender and ensuring that justice is served to the deceased and her family.
If you know of the culprits’ whereabouts, keep us informed immediately, or directly inform her uncle, Jasni Abdul Jalil, via his blog, which he had specially created as a form of dedication to her.
Over the years, we have heard of children’s lives being taken away due to the evil doings of heartless adults. Nurin’s death was one of the most gruesome and tragic deaths that made many of us shocked, despaired and furious. Do you want more children to die in the hands of these sadistic people? Do you still wish to hear such saddening news of child abuse?
Then let us do our part right away! Together we can make this world a better place for the little ones. Let us all join hand in hand and put a stop to such cruelty towards them once and for all!

3BT: October 5-6, 2007
1. Being able to send SMSes again with a friend of mine after not being able to do it for a few months. Getting back in touch with an old friend feels SO good.
2. Getting an email from another old friend about her personal testimony on God's provision and miracles. The email made me strengthened.
3. Finally I managed to push myself to say 3 simple Finnish sentences to my mother-in-law (before today, usually I just used body language) he he he...Next time I'll try to do this again. And I could pick up a few simple sentences wholly and other bits of words while I was there with my hubby. One snail's pace of progress at a time. YES!!!!!! ;-D
4a. My mother-in-law asking my help to make lingonberry pie. I personally think it was her way of teaching me how to do it he he he...
4b. Plus she didn't even flinch when she realized I wasn't mixing the batter well enough (there was a little bit of flour on a one side at the bottom of the bowl). YIKES!!! I couldn't believe my eyes when she was pouring the batter to the baking pan. I'm SOOOOOO glad to have a mother-in-law like that. She's truly an example for me! ;-D
5. Watching breathtaking twilight again. Different colours in the sky made me feel like I was truly watching God's piece of artwork. Mmmmm...
6. Eating my mother-in-law's DELICIOUS moose and potatoes. YUM YUM!!! PLUS getting some more to take home HO HO HO HO HO...
7. Being able to stop negative voices inside my head in mid-sentence over and over again for the past week and control my emotion. I shan't let you win, negativity!!! And hey, it gets easier as time goes by! SPLENDID! ;-D

Another Award + A Fond Memory of Chicks

In this post, I also wanna ramble a bit about chicks. I have a fond memory when it comes to chicks. Whenever we visited my Dad's mother during my childhood, there were always lots of chickens and chicks near her house. Just like us, she used to live in a small alley. My brother was the one who had a way with animals. I was always too passionate so sometimes cats scratched me 'coz I squeezed them too tightly ('coz I thought they were SOOO SOOO CUTE!!!).
Anyway, one time the CUTE yellow chicks sauntered to my grandma's yard, so I asked my brother to pick one of them so that I could touch them. I knew I couldn't get them myself and I was SO sure he could get a hand of one of them 'coz he got that "magic gentle touch". He moved in such a way as not to disturb the chicks and voila! He caught one of them. WHOOPPPEEE!!! We were both SO ecstatic!!!
However, just as I was going to caress it, my grandma came out and told us to let it go. I guess she thought we would do something that could hurt the little chick. Sadly my brother did let it go. Sob sob sob...Well, what makes it such a fond memory is the fact that my brother still remembered the incident, even though we were still pretty young back then. We'd tell the story to my parents or his girlfriend or other people with a sentimental feeling. We were THAT close to caressing the chick and playing with it he he he he he...
