Sleet in June!

Welcome to Lapland, where even sleet can happen in June. Today's temperature was around 2'C and they came chucking down at great speed. *aaatttcchhhooooo*

Yes, I've been under the weather since last weekend. It started with a sudden sore throat on Friday, then a runny nose (almost non-stop), then sneezing like crazy. Saturday was the worst day ever because I didn't have any strength to do anything much and couldn't even concentrate on anything much. My head felt foggy, no fever but still didn't feel quite right.

After some hot days a few weeks ago, the temperature has dropped down tremendously (it can even be as cold as 2-3'C during the night). Right now my head has cleared up more, but my nose is still stuffy and my cough is worse. It feels like there's a furry thing growing inside my throat, making it itchy. It's been bothering my sleep. At least during the weekend I could still sleep non-stop, but last night I had to move to the other bedroom in order not to bother R2 with my cough. I kept on waking up because of the itchy throat that forced me to cough. Grrrrrr...

Anyhow, here are a few photos I took today when the sleet was at its full force. It's died down by now and the streets are wet.

Some older photos (the flowers I planted out in our yard, though the sunflower has suffered because there hasn't been any sun yet - I wonder if it's going to last or not):

The last photo makes it look like there's some kind of bird convention or something ha ha ha ha...

3BT: Random Days

1. Having a laid back hubby who doesn't even complain when I couldn't cook him regular meals or clean up the house due to my flu.

2. The sore throat is finally seeming to go away (fingers crossed!). The past few weeks of having horrible sore throat reminds me of how LOVELY it is NOT to feel any pain on the throat! I still have no appetite but at least no more sore throat! YEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSS!!!

3. Watching hubby crazily mimicking Morgana's evil grins (from Merlin TV series). SO FUNNY! ;-D

4. I begged hubby to make some pancakes and he did make some. :-D *spoiled brat alert*

5. My Mom's finally booked the trip with her friend to go to Taiwan for a week. It makes me happy to see her able to enjoy her golden days 'coz I can just imagine how excited she is. :-D

6. Last Sunday for some reason I had some pain on the chest and I had more trouble breathing while lying down (my throat felt half blocked due to phlegm but no matter what I tried, I couldn't let the phlegm out) and hubby was so worried. And I'm SO glad the pain didn't continue and the next day it didn't happen again! That was REALLY scary!

Oh, and I'm ESPECIALLY THANKFUL that I didn't get this sick during our holiday!!!!!!!!!!!!

7. My dear friend who's moving with her family to Rovaniemi gave me one of their old kicksleds. THANK YOU SO MUCH for the gift!!! I'm gonna MISS YOUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!

Under The Weather

Been feeling under the weather for some time (esp. after my trip to my friend's wedding), but this week it got worse. Finally went to the doc and got signed off for 3 days. I'm tired of feeling weird on the head - it's like a light-headedness/light headache that comes and goes as it pleases. However, tomorrow I have work but fortunately I can rest after that 'coz the next time I have work again is on Monday. If this light-headedness continues, though, I'm gonna go to the doc again.

At least I've stopped feeling cold (no fever, though - I haven't had a fever for the past 4 years no matter how unwell I feel). For a few days I had been feeling cold most of the time even though indoor temperature is never cold. I had to put on a few sweaters and three pairs of socks even. Last night I kicked another blanket that had kept me warm the previous nights.

Woke up with a very sore throat and R2's been infected, as well. Oh well...hopefully the bugs will soon go away and that R2 won't feel worse 'coz soon it'll be his birthday (next week). It'll suck if he gets sick on his birthday, esp. after he managed to get a day off that day!

While riding my bike back from the clinic, though, I ran into my neighbour - the gentleman (an old guy) smiled, took off his hat, and greeted me while kicking his kicksled. That was SO sweet! :-)))

Speaking of birthday, I had either chickenpox or mumps when I turned 8 and I had to rest in bed for over a week (or was it close to two weeks?). Anyway, I was really bored and I felt crappy 'coz I had to be sick on my birthday. At that time my uncle (Dad's youngest brother) came for a visit and he brought a gift for me. I was SO surprised and touched that I cried my eyes out, you know? My uncle was totally confused he he he he...

Anyway, I'm gonna go rest some more. My brain still can't cope with anything too heavy, though I do have plenty of other topics to talk about, but they shall wait. Have a healthy, safe, and wonderful weekend, people!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Woke up this morning with a VERY sore and dry throat. Last night I couldn't stand it anymore, so I kissed my hubby's lips a few times (no French kisses, though). I thought I would be safe since we didn't share saliva ha ha ha...but I guess I was affected anyway. This morning I let out some (sorry!) phlegm from my throat. Since I have to go to my Finnish class this evening, I decided to take some precaution by drinking Finrexin Neo. I don't really know what it is (all I know is that there's vitamin C in it and some other stuff), but hubby took it when he first found out that he was about to have flu. Plus it tastes OK, so I don't mind drinking it. By the way, it's a kind of powder with berry taste.

Right now my throat feels MUCH better (GLADLY!!!). I'd better drink more vitamin C, then. AND I should avoid kissing my hubby again until he's 100% well. *sob sob* ---> this is the toughest part he he he...

On days like this, when I have a sore throat, I long for porridge. Hot chicken porridge is the best kind of food to eat when you have a sore throat. Plus I want to make some cakue, as well, to eat with the porridge he he he...For those of you who don't know what cakue is, just click on the link. It's tough to imagine the taste, though...it's salty and it's like a light snack. It's SO tasty, esp. when eaten with the porridge.

Hubby's going to Rovaniemi on midday this Friday already. I wonder what I should do then. Maybe I should try making cakue and porridge he he he...I hope I can make cakue the right way as my friend tried it once but it didn't go well. Hmmm...wish my Mom were here to help me out he he he...I'm gonna miss going to my parents-in-law this Saturday as hubby'll probably be home only on Sat evening. I can't wait to make another SNOWMAAANNNNNN!!! HE HE HE HE HE HE...By the way, did I tell you that both my wrists were sore the whole day after I made the snowman? LOL!!!

Anyway, early this morning I also had a weird dream. I was back in Indonesia and I had to be a private English tutor again. I had to teach one student in the next few hours and I wasn't prepared already. I PANICKED as I had to find the old books I had used to teach my students and I only had a limited amount of time to prepare myself he he he...It was such a crazy dream! I woke up groggily and found myself a bit confused about everything. Maybe my subconscious mind wanted me to be able to get some income, eh? HA HA HA HA HA HA...Did you have any weird dreams last night? Sometimes dreams reveal what our subconscious mind is really thinking about, right? ;-D

Ever since I moved here, I've had dreams with a similar theme. I was back in Indo for a visit and for some reason I freaked out 'coz I didn't have enough money to pay for the plane ticket to go back to Finland. I know this sounds crazy 'coz if I ever visit Indonesia, I'll naturally buy a two-way ticket, so I wouldn't have to worry about paying for the ticket. I hated this kind of dream as I always woke up VERY tired afterward. I wonder what this kind of dream means...my subconscious mind is worried about money matters? He he he he he...

What I find interesting is that I've remembered many more dreams ever since I moved here. I wonder if that's because my hubby hangs a Dreamcatcher above our bed or not. His penpal sent it to him once and he's been hanging it above the bed. OK, I'd better have some lunch and then start studying Finnish again before my lesson starts this evening! ;-D
