Sneaky Hubby

We both had a day off today and it was snowing lightly for half a day, so I told hubby that it was his turn to shovel the snow outside, because I did it already yesterday.

A couple of hours later, we had this convo:

R2: "You know, I was actually planning on making some pancakes, but because you told me to shovel the snow, I'm going to cancel making pancakes."
Me: "WHHHHHAAATTTT????"
R2: "Yeah, it's too much work to have to make pancakes and shovel the snow on my day off."
Me: "Alrighty then, I'll shovel the snow and you make the pancakes." (because I'd rather do this than make pancakes anyway)
R2: (SMILE)
Me: "You know what, you're SO SNEAKKKKKKKKKKKKYYY! You must have thought of this idea because you didn't feel like shoveling the snow. SNEAAAKKYYYY!!!"
R2: "HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHHH...What do you mean?"
Me: "Yeah, yeah, just pretend you're not a sneaky hubby."

3BT: Random Days

1. Having a laid back hubby who doesn't even complain when I couldn't cook him regular meals or clean up the house due to my flu.

2. The sore throat is finally seeming to go away (fingers crossed!). The past few weeks of having horrible sore throat reminds me of how LOVELY it is NOT to feel any pain on the throat! I still have no appetite but at least no more sore throat! YEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSS!!!

3. Watching hubby crazily mimicking Morgana's evil grins (from Merlin TV series). SO FUNNY! ;-D

4. I begged hubby to make some pancakes and he did make some. :-D *spoiled brat alert*

5. My Mom's finally booked the trip with her friend to go to Taiwan for a week. It makes me happy to see her able to enjoy her golden days 'coz I can just imagine how excited she is. :-D

6. Last Sunday for some reason I had some pain on the chest and I had more trouble breathing while lying down (my throat felt half blocked due to phlegm but no matter what I tried, I couldn't let the phlegm out) and hubby was so worried. And I'm SO glad the pain didn't continue and the next day it didn't happen again! That was REALLY scary!

Oh, and I'm ESPECIALLY THANKFUL that I didn't get this sick during our holiday!!!!!!!!!!!!

7. My dear friend who's moving with her family to Rovaniemi gave me one of their old kicksleds. THANK YOU SO MUCH for the gift!!! I'm gonna MISS YOUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!

3BT: Random Days

1. A customer told me, "Don't EVER stop working here! I'll be disappointed if you stop working here." :-D :-D :-D

2. Gave the little girl whom I adore (who also likes me) some candies. :-D

3. Spring is finally here. Though there's still some snow left in the yard, but yesterday I spent half an hour sunbathing on the swing while reading a novel.

4. Going back to my regular exercise regime after not having been doing it regularly for months.

5. Taking this silly picture and making MIL giggle so much. Note: Actually R2 was the one who inspired me. He was eating some candies and he bit off a little bit of one part of the candies and shoved both candies to his teeth to make "fake fangs" so I followed suit and R2 took this pic.

6. Knowing that MIL has many friends who take her out on a walk or invite her in or do other things with her 'coz it doesn't seem that FIL can go back home to live with her anymore.

7. MIL has been going to sauna with us here once a week and we've had fun playing cards together in our kitchen table.

8. Doing spring cleaning (only halfway done), but it feels GREAT to have a clean house.

9. Having some days off due to Easter holiday and being able to relax at home with hubby.

10. A few days ago I got my return tax information (which will be transferred to my bank account in December) and this is the first time I can get MUCH more than I thought I could get ('coz I had started working last year). WOOOOHHOOOOO!!! I can save the money in December!!!

11. Having a caring, understanding immediate superior who laughs and smiles a lot and who works well under stress. I don't think I can handle it being in that position.

12. Finding a pair of cute sandals in a local auction online shop for Ken (which I hope are still too big for him so that he can wear them later). :-D

13. A few days ago I ordered a not-too-expensive outdoor grill (to be used with coal). Can't wait to grill some food outside. I'm dying to grill some fish and eat it with soy sauce with chili!!! :-D Maybe I should invite my MIL, BIL and SIL to have a grill party sometime. :-D

14. Being able to understand jokes when customers throw some at me. A few years back I felt stumped 'coz I had to have jokes translated by hubby to me and it's just not fun to have to listen to translated jokes 'coz then it's not fun to "laugh later on your own", so I'm THANKFUL to be able to understand jokes.

15. Having a hubby who rarely complains (the only time he complains is when he's frustrated about fixing a computer or gaming or when there's a long queue, but other than that he rarely complains) and I don't want to take that for granted.

16. Sense of humour and people who smile. :-D

17. Hubby's making pancake today. WHOOOOPPPPEEEEE!!! :-D

3BT: Random Days

1. Hubby insisted on cooking today 'coz he wanted to cook the food the way he liked it - not the way I liked it. It's NICE to have him take charge in the kitchen once in a while.

2. Hubby made pancakes on Sunday. Though I can make them myself, it's again nice to be able to just sit down and eat without having to do anything else beforehand ha ha...

3. Buying face mask 'coz I still have some leftover budget for this week's grocery budget HO HO HO HO...

4. The other week after I received my paycheck, I decided to pamper myself by buying Bailey's and Kissanminttu (Cream Mint alcoholic drink) and they didn't even ask for my ID this time HA HA HA...

5. When I got back home with two bottles of alcoholic drinks as a treat, I found out that hubby had bought some chips and dip HUA HA HA HA...so that day was our party dayyyy at home!!!

6. Having some troubling questions and getting the answer. THANK YOU, God, for your answer!!!

7. Getting some opps to write. ;-D

8. Trying to recreate the kind of food that my Mom used to cook and I managed to do it. It tasted HEAVENLY!!! :-D

9. Just created another 2011 Calendar filled with flowery images from Lapland. Here goes:

My Cup Runneth Over

Today I woke up at around 10 am and opened the window blinds and voila!!! First snowwwww has come early this year. If I remember correctly, last year it came at the end of October. It felt MAGNIFICENT to see snow, though I know it'll melt away soon as the day temperature is still above 0'C, but still he he he...

Yesterday I had to work, but when I came back home, I realized that hubby had washed all the dishes AND made pancakes. Plus I had called from work and asked him to bake some french fries and hamburger (I was craving for it), so when I arrived home, the smell of hot food and pancakes greeted me...oh, and of course a clean kitchen HO HO HO HO HO HO...

On top of that, the cabin trip was...FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had a chance to see amazing views of nature plus some more squirrels in action from about a metre away from me. Then I guess 'coz we're about to be apart for 4 weeks soon enough, R2 hugged me SO tightly - the kind of hug that he gave me when we met for the first time and we knew we had to be apart again. Yep, that kind of hug. ME LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Plus I got to give my MIL something and she loved it, too...in return she gave me some flowers HE HE HE HE HE HE HE HE...So, can you see why I'm THIS happy? ;-D Besides, I only have 10 days of work left at the hotel and then I'm free to focus on packing and preparing myself to go back to Indo HO HO HO HO HO HO HO...

Ahem...OK OK...let me share the pics with you then he he...

When R2 went to the cabin to warm it up, I went along with him 'coz it was sunset time and I wanted to take pics of the lake. Here they are...

Oh how I wish you could see it yourself...the golden ripples on the lake water...amazing sight!!!
At that moment, nothing else seemed to matter. Time seemed to have stopped and all you want to do is cherish the moment that draws you closer to the realization that God has indeed made such magnificent creations...mmmm...

If you look carefully, you'll notice that a part of the lake water has turned to ice. Here's a zoomed in pic of the icy water:

Zooming in on the other side of the lake:

Then when I walked back to my in-laws' place after the sun set, I saw a full moon!!! :-D I took many pics of the moon but I think this one is the best one he he...

After we went to sleep in the cabin, I woke up at around 6.30 am to pee in the toilet outside and then I wanted to take pics of the lake behind the cabin.

Then I realized that the sun was about to rise...and WOWIE...look at these pics!!! I stayed outside for about 10-15 minutes...waiting for the sun to actually rise, but then clouds covered it up, so I went back inside to sleep. But still the time I spent outside in the cold was SO worthwhile!!!!! :-D :-D :-D

Here's a video clip I took so that you can see how vast the lake is...if you have fast internet account, better click on this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mppXYlNwl8 and choose HD to enjoy a better view.

And on Saturday as we went back to my in-laws', I saw a cute squirrel (or two? I'm not sure if they are the same or not 'coz my BIL said he saw THREE of them outside the yard the other day) and took some pics and a video clip of it.

In this below pic, my MIL tried to give it some bread he he he...

This time the squirrel jumped onto my in-laws' bird feeder and ate from up there hi hi hi...

Here's a video clip of the squirrel on the bird feeder: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MlRA1M8442w

3BT: Random Days

1. The concerned look on the postman's face as he gave me the big package. He was worried that I might not be able to carry it all the way to the library (or maybe he thought I was going to take it home). Such a thoughtful postman!!!

2. I decided to get the daily Helsinki newspaper from the PO by bike and it was an ABSOLUTELY GREAT decision as I had to bring that big package with me. I'm GLAD I bought two ropes for my bike, so I could just put the package behind me safely with the ropes.

3. I groaned to hubby, "Honnneeeeyyyy...I want some pancakes, but I'm too lazy to make them." A few hours later after our naps, he went to the kitchen to make them HO HO HO HO...I'm a LUCKY SPOILED GIRL!!!

4. There's a gathering for foreigners and their families in Sodankylä this Sunday in one of the churches and they offer free lunch. The idea is to make the foreigners feel at home here and also to make them meet the locals. I've called the woman in charge to book my place already. We'll see how it goes!!! This is the first time I've ever known such a gathering. WOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!

5. I'm halfway done a children's novel (Finnish novel) that I bought in Rovaniemi.

6. I fell off my bike the other day because I went too fast (with gear 3) on a snowy stretch of road, but I didn't hurt myself badly. Phew!!! And nobody saw me HI HI HI HI HI HI...so I was saved from any embarrassment!!!

3BT: Random Days

1. Hubby bought me a 3-step stool for the kitchen since the shelves are SOOOOO high for me!

2. Bought MIL two types of tulips for Valentine's Day (AKA Friendship Day in Finland). Funny thing was that she was thinking of buying herself some tulips before that, but it was such a cold day downtown that she cancelled it. Actually at first I was going to buy a different type of flowers, but for some reason I was drawn to those tulips. I'm SO HAPPY that she got the flowers that she had been wanting!

3. My MIL gave me such a TIGHT and LONG hug after I gave her the flowers. ;-D

4. I wrote and left a love note for hubby (Post-It note) on the car as I was walking out to get some newspaper from the PO since I saw his car parked nearby (he was working on some computers at the City Hall). I knew that note would surprise him and it did! ;-D

5. Hubby brought some chips today ---> this is a coincidence since I've been craving for some chips, too HO HO HO HO...

6. I'm going to make some pancakes soon. YUM YUM...

7. Despite the financial situation, we can still afford living in a nice, warm place and also go on a vacation in summer. THANK YOU GOD for His BLESSINGS!!!

My Last Weekend of Freedom

Yesterday as usual I woke up late and hubby woke me up he he he...I didn't have time to do anything on the computer as I had to hurry. Right after we arrived in Kelujärvi, turned out that my mother-in-law had COMPLETED the jigsaw puzzle all by herself, even though we only managed to do around 1/5 of it last week. WOWWWWW!!! Here's the completed puzzle (920 pieces).

Oh yeah, almost forgot. On Friday I decided to make something that my Mom makes to sell in the traditional market he he he...

First I had to make the vla or custard or whatever you call it...here's the picture. It's just milk, rum, eggs, corn flour, and sugar (regular sugar and vanilla sugar).

Next I had to make pancakes (it took about 45 minutes to cook the pancakes since I only had one pan to make it and as you know, I'm a slow cook HA HA HA...). Again it's made of flour, a dash of salt, eggs, and milk.

Then I simply put some vla/custard in the middle of the pancakes and rolled 'emmmm...Then I covered them with some aluminum foil to make sure the wrappers wouldn't be dry. Ta-daaaaa!!!!

I brought some for my in-laws and they liked them! ;-D Mother-in-law asked me what the ingredients of the filling was he he he...As you know, she could guess most of the ingredients already ha ha ha...And Arttu LOVES these as he loves pancakes AND the vla ha ha ha ha ha...

Anyway, then Arttu and I found out that my in-laws were featured in a local newspaper. COOL!!! Let me show you the article and the pics hi hi hi...

Here's the article:

Here's another picture on the right page he he he...

The article is about how to warm up the house using wood. Apparently there aren't too many people using wood to warm up their house anymore, as there are many more modern heaters in new houses.

Well, on Friday and yesterday I also managed to study Finnish again. After all, as a newbie, I have to repeat the lessons. Otherwise, I'll forget the rules ha ha ha ha ha ha...I'm PSYCHED about tomorrow. If you don't hear from me for a few days, don't wonder why. That just means that Sleepyhead Me has trouble keeping up with my new busy life schedule HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA...I'm going to study more Finnish tonight, as well.

I also managed to read some pages of Secrets of the Baby Whisperer. A VERY interesting book. A friend of mine recommended it to me and Trinity and another friend of mine who are mothers already also recommended the book. I sure hope I can practice all the theories in the book when the time comes since I think it'll be VERY beneficial for me ('coz I can't get no helper here, has to do everything on our own) ha ha ha...but first things first: I must learn Finnish well before our baby program starts he he he...

It'll be interesting to see if I can get up early tomorrow or not. I hope so, 'coz I do want to exercise first before going to my course. ;-D

Last night I stayed up until around 2 am to accompany my hubby who was battling some Trojan virus. The virus managed to "lock" his Antivirus, so he had to run the computer in Safe Mode and delete the darn virus manually. Gladly it hadn't spread to any other programs. :-)))
