Lucky Me!!!

Called my Mom earlier and found out something that really TOUCHED me deeply. I think a while ago was the Moon Cake Festival thingie for the Chinese, right? Well, I'm VERY fond of chocolate-filled Moon Cake. However, of course I can't get it here in Sodankylä.

When my Mom received one from Shen's mother (Shen is my brother's wife), my Mom said to her, "Ohhhh...this is Amel's favourite Moon Cake."

A few days after that, Shen said to my Mom, "I've ordered some chocolate-filled Moon Cake for Amel, since the expiry date is December."

I almost wanted to CRY when I heard that. I can't believe I'm gonna be able to eat Moon Cake when I'm back in Indo HUE HE HE HE HE HE HE HE...

MOON CAKE, HERE I COMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

Am I lucky or what?????????? BLESS YOU, Shen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's All Good!!!

I have SO many things to tell, so let me see how much I can tell you in one post he he he he he...

1. Family Matters

I called my mother last Saturday since we didn't go to Kelujärvi then (we went to Kelujärvi only on Sunday). Saturday was my lazy day. I'm SO HAPPY to hear that my Dad's been MUCH better in controlling his temperament. I guess since now he's got the fishes to take care of and he's waiting for his first grandchild, so in a way he's got a purpose of life again. After all, he had told everybody that all he wanted in his old age was to play with his grandchild(children) HE HE HE HE...So he IS getting what he wants. I hope he lives healthily for many years to come. :-)))

I'm HAPPY to hear that 'coz that means that the situation at home has been wonderful, especially for my Mom who had been the object of my Dad's misdirected anger. And I'm glad to hear that Shen's pregnancy is going fine. :-)))

Saturday evening, I received an SMS from my sis-in-law, asking me if I'd be ready to go out with her to the bars. I was surprised to get that SMS, but I thought, "Why not?" The bars aren't my fave place to be with, but I know she'd talk to me in English, so it would be good to spend time with her. Arttu decided not to come. Funny thing was that as we were walking out to the bars at around 9.30 pm, my sis-in-law asked me if Arttu was mad that we went out alone without him he he he he...It seemed that she and Arttu's second brother thought that he'd be SO possessive of me HA HA HA HA HA HA...

We only got back home at around 1.30 am. I had fun with her and I got to ask her some female questions that Arttu can't possibly answer. For example: I asked her how much one had to pay IF one had to go on a C-section (side note: in Indo, if you have to go on a C-section, the VERY cheapest one in a cheap hospital would cost around €400). She assured me that that wasn't the case in Finland and that I wouldn't have to worry about that. She also told me that if I needed to ask questions about anything, she'd be ready to help out. I LOVE girls' night out!!! ;-D I LOVE being with considerate people. Well, who doesn't, right? HE HE HE HE HE HE...I just feel LUCKY that I get along well with Arttu's family members. ;-D

OK, time to go to my course. I'll continue this later. ;-D

2. Tickets to Indonesia!!!

Yesterday we bought the tickets to Indonesia already since we don't want to miss getting the great ticket prices HA HA HA HA HA...Of course the total cost is slightly more than we thought since we also paid for the travel and cancellation insurance...but it's all GOOD!!! The only thing I need to do now is to transfer the money from the government right away to the other account since we paid the tickets using that "untouchable" account he he he...

I hope our trip will go on without any glitch. We're leaving on Tuesday, October 4th and arriving in Jakarta on Wednesday, October 5th. We're going back home on Friday, October 24th and arriving in Rovaniemi on October 25th.

Arttu only gets a 3-week holiday, so we can't stay in Indonesia longer. Well, I suppose I can always stay there longer, but it's such a hassle to travel such a long trip alone. It's always nicer to go together he he he...After all, we've never really taken a long plane trip together (the first and only time we went on a plane together was and from Bali on our honeymoon back in 2006).

3. Watching The Boys Skating.

On Sunday Arttu and I picked up my sis-in-law who spent a night at her friend's house and we went to Kelujärvi. There I met her boys again and she asked me if I wanted to walk to the skating rink nearby (at a school there), so we did go there with the boys. The boys started skating and I took some videos, though I'm not sure about the quality of the videos since I couldn't zoom in on them as they were skating so fast he he he...

I did took some pictures, though. :-)))) I'll upload the videos in another post, OK?

First pic: A pic of the boys in action. The eldest boy is now almost as tall as Arttu, around 175 cm, even though he's only 15 years old.

Second pic: I managed to snap a pic while the eldest boy fell down HE HE HE...

And here's a group pic of us:

My sis-in-law told me that the eldest had been helping her in her work (she supplies groceries to a supermarket - it's a physical work), and since he's only 15, he gets the wage without having to pay any tax. He's SO happy to receive the money since he can buy more guitars (he's a guitar addict, whereas the younger one is a drummer).

My sis-in-law told me that the eldest had been eating SO MUCH that just feeding him cost a lot, especially on the train trip to Rovaniemi (we've got no train here, the last train stop on the north of Finland is Rovaniemi) he he he...No wonder he's grown so much!!!

Here's a view of someplace I'd been wanting to photograph, but I could never take a good snap of it from the car he he he...I took it while we were walking back to my in-laws' place.

4. Blooming Flowers.

The flowers from MC are still blooming except two of them. Two of them died already the other day, so I took them out. Here's another pic of the rest of the blooming flowers.

5. The Substitute Teacher.

The substitute teacher is someone that Arttu has known for a long time. She's got a 4-year-old granddaughter and yesterday she told us a funny story about her. The granddaughter wanted to play "princess" and she took her "magic wand" with her and waved it around her grandma's face and she said, "Sim salabim...turn into a princess."

What happened next? The little girl was confused since grandma stayed the same, so she said, "The magic wand doesn't work. It must be broken."

HUA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA...That story made us laugh so hard he he he...;-D

Okie dokie, I'll stop here and blog-hop tomorrow. Now I need to COOOOOKKKKKK!!!!!!

Been Busy Like A Bee!

Just a short note to tell everybody that I haven't got time to blog-hop since yesterday my sister-in-law came over and took me to bars (just the two of us) until late...then we spent today in my mother-in-law, so now I'm REALLY tired he he he...I have SO many things to write and some pics to share, but that has to waitttttttt!!!

Tomorrow and Tuesday we've got a substitute teacher (the one who helped us fill in the bureaucratic forms) since our regular teacher has to rest still. I'll try to blog-hop tomorrow and Tuesday, OK?

Hope your weekend has been FABULOUS!!! MISS YOU GUYS AND GIRLS!!!!!!!! ;-D

1. Buying Skype credits to call my parents using my own money (which I got from blogging for money) via Paypal. YIPPPPPPPPIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEE!!!!

2. Feeding hubby some chocolate while he was gaming he he he he he he...

3. Getting an email from my Mom: she said that the other day she went to a resto with Dad, elder sister, elder brother and wife, and Dad's youngest brother. It's always SO nice to hear that they're getting along very well and they're having SO MUCH FUN. It's good to have people to talk to and to have fun with during their old age. Ahhhhh...I can imagine already how wonderful it must've been for them, laughing and talking so much.

4. My sister-in-law also wrote me a short email which made me smile and laugh HE HE HE HE HE HE...

5. Coffee-cream pudding (bought from the supermarket) MMMMMMMMMMMMM...Yum, yum!!!!

3BT: September 27 and 28, 2007

1. Hubby came home and brought some pizza (I had been craving for some!!!! LUCKY ME!!!).

2. Receiving two SMSes from my future sister-in-law (brother's girlfriend), asking about my Finnish classes. She's SO attentive! ;-D

3. Saw a touching scene while watching X-Men 3: the last duel between Wolverine versus Jean Grey.

Jean: "So you'd die for them?"
Wolverine: "No, not for them. For you. For you."

Then Jean's eyes suddenly looked tender and she said, "Save me." Then Wolverine said "I love you" and killed her.

AAAUUUGGGHHHH...it was such a ROMANTIC and TRAGIC scene hi hi hi...

4. I made strawberry-banana pie (my first attempt) and it seemed to be pretty good. I haven't tasted it yet, but my hubby can't wait to taste it HO HO HO HO HO...I can't wait to bring some for my in-laws tomorrow he he he he he...

5. I borrowed another Finnish children's book from the library and I'm SO HAPPY 'coz I understood four long sentences on the first page without having to use any dictionary. YAAAAAAAAAAYYY!!! It feels like some darkness is lifted from my mind hi hi hi hi hi...

6. Having an opportunity to encourage someone. ;-D

Random Stories

1. Went to Lidl today to buy ruispalat for my hubby. He eats ruispalat whenever he has a heavy meal. When I was there, I browsed around as there were always discounted items. I found this discounted bottle of multivitamin. There were two types of them side by side. The left bottle was orange/white, whereas the right one was blue/white. The discounted tag was right above the orange/white bottle, but I was a bit confused as the discounted tag also said the same thing as the non-discounted tag above the blue/white bottle: Moni Multivit. Mineraali. The label on the orange/white bottle was Moni Multivitamiini Mineraali, whereas the label on the blue/white bottle was Moni Vitamiini & Mineraali. However, finally I decided to take the orange/white one as the discounted tag was directly above it. When I paid for the ruispalat and the multivitamin bottle, however, I found out that the multivitamin was at full price.

I pondered upon it a while, but then I came back inside to check on the tag again. I actually don't like claiming for stuff like that 'coz I don't like to be seen as a fussy woman, but I'm on a tight grocery budget and the multivitamin was on a 43% discount and it wasn't exactly cheap without the discount. So I went back to the cashier and she called her supervisor and the supervisor checked it out with me. She was at first also a bit confused, but then she realized that they had put the tag above the wrong bottle, so she gave me the discounted price anyway and gave me back the money. Phew!!!

2. Last weekend my brother-in-law spent a night at our place again. He talked to me about lots of things. It felt SO GOOD to be able to talk in English, even though I knew it was a bit hard for him to have to talk in English. My sister-in-law also took me shopping. Turned out she didn't like shopping that much, so we didn't spend that much time at the stores. However, it was nice to be able to talk to another woman in English. She's a bit taller than me, but still tiny. She said that in northern Finland, since the natives were small people, the stores here sold clothes with smaller sizes, whereas it was harder for her to find smaller sizes in southern Finland. (She lives in Pori, way south from here)

3. Arttu's eldest brother's coming to town with his eldest son this Thursday. Saturday is Arttu's eldest brother's and Dad's birthdays. Yep, they have the same birthdays. I think I'm going to make my famous chocolate pudding with vla (the vla is made of chocolate milk, rhum, 2 egg yolks, and maizena). Arttu LOVES the vla SO MUCH so that he says that he wants the vla WITHOUT the pudding!!! LOL!!!

4. The temperature here can be pretty weird. Yesterday morning when Arttu woke up at 6.45, it was as hot as 28'C. However, an hour later when he was ready to go to work, it dropped down to 20'C. This morning it happened again. It was 26.5'C outside when he woke up, yet when he went to work, it was only around 18'C. Strange but true.

5. Bought some discounted items yesterday at one of the stores here. They are having a big sale (50-70% discount). I found that I had to try on everything before I bought them as the sizes differed SO MUCH depending on the material used and the style. I ended up buying two T-shirts, one tank top, and one 3/4 pants (they all had DIFFERENT sizes). Guess how much I spent for those 4 items? Only €10.75!!!! YEEEEEEESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!! ;-D

6. Yesterday and today I got emails from different angels on earth. Words of encouragement. Words of comfort. Words of joy. Just after I got the news from my brother. Now I feel SO warm inside, knowing that God listens to my pleas and tears and He cares about me. Let me just bathe in His love...and truly enjoy the fact that God has sent His Angels to help me.

I'm in a "poetic" mood today, so let me just copy and paste this WONDERFUL poem from this site: Inspiration Peak.

These Are My Wishes For You
Sandra Sturtz Hauss

May you find serenity and tranquility
in a world you may not always understand.

May the pain you have known
and the conflict you have experienced
give you the strength to walk through life
facing each new situation with courage and optimism.

Always know that there are those
whose love and understanding will always be there,
even when you feel most alone.

May a kind word,
a reassuring touch,
and a warm smile
be yours every day of your life,
and may you give these gifts
as well as receive them.

May the teachings of those you admire
become part of you,
so that you may call upon them.

Remember, those whose lives you have touched
and who have touched yours
are always a part of you,
even if the encounters were less than you would have wished.
It is the content of the encounter
that is more important than its form.

May you not become too concerned with material matters,
but instead place immeasurable value
on the goodness in your heart.
Find time in each day to see beauty and love
in the world around you.

Realize that what you feel you lack in one regard
you may be more than compensated for in another.
What you feel you lack in the present
may become one of your strengths in the future.
May you see your future as one filled with promise and possibility.
Learn to view everything as a worthwhile experience.

May you find enough inner strength
to determine your own worth by yourself,
and not be dependent
on another's judgment of your accomplishments.

May you always feel loved.

I just HAVE to share this one as this is SO GOOD, so click here: Letting Go

3BT: July 13, 2007

1. Shopping with my sister-in-law (my hubby's eldest brother's wife). Finally there's somebody else whom I can talk to in English!!! ;-D

2. Mint-chocolate ice cream on a hot sunny day. It's 24'C here and it's PERFECT weather for me!!!!

3. Met a guy who made such a huge effort in talking to me and welcoming me to Finland. It felt SO nice to be welcomed!!! ;-D And I TRULY appreciated his effort in trying to speak English (I could see how difficult it was for him to translate his thoughts into English).
