Childhood Memories: Japanese and Wuxia Series

The other day a FB friend posted a video clip from an old Japanese series that we used to watch when we were kids. Back then computers were still a luxury and there were not many TV programs for kids, so video rental providers were popular (along with handheld game devices). I was saturated mostly with Japanese series (anime and non-anime) and wuxia (martial arts) series ever since I was young and I still have fond memories of these even until now. I still love Japanese anime and wuxia series.

Let me share some of my memories that have recently brought up to the surface by watching that video clip. Here goes:

1. One of my most remarkable memories of a Japanese anime series was when a bad guy in the series died and the girl who loved him the most did something extraordinary. She used a machine to take over his body to get some revenge. This body switch was such an amazing concept for a young person like me and it's left such a profound mark on me. In an anime world, imagination is the key!

Side note: the thing is, I don't remember where I saw this scene, but it's been stuck on my mind for the longest time ever, so I can't find any links to this just yet.

2. The said video showed a superhero that could produce fire from his hair (and could shoot fire from the hair). How awesome is that? :-D I don't care how the mechanics work, but the sheer possibility of making it happen on screen is super cool.

3. In one Japanese series, there was a female robot that could shoot boob missiles. The only downside of this was that once both missiles were shot, then she was doomed. I just found some info on this robot. No wonder she wasn't built with lots of weapon. She was built for peace! Here's the link if you want to read about her: Aphrodite A.

I couldn't find any video clip of her in action in the anime, but here's a video of her action figure (including the boob shots) in case you want to see it:

4. I loved watching wuxia series when I was young because of the many female characters in the movie who could do martial arts. As a tomboy, I loved the idea of strong women he he he he...Funnily enough, though, I never questioned something that I considered an epic love story in one wuxia series until much later. You see, in one story, this "forever young" female loner took in a young boy and trained him in martial arts. As he grew older, they fell in love with each other, but many people thought it was unnatural for them to be together, so they were separated for many, many years. They went through a lot of hardships, but in the end they were reunited (the guy lost one arm at one point in his journey). Here's some info on the female character: Xiaolongnu.

Move away, Romeo and Juliet! LOL!!!

Here's a video clip that some scenes from the series. You can see how the guy has progressed from a young adult into a mature man in it.

Rome Video Clips

Last night I've finally finished compiling 4 short video clips of the Vatican City. I didn't have too much time to take the videos, so sorry if it's a bit "dizzying" in some parts ha ha...this is also the first time I've ever compiled videos using youtube editor, so it's kinda interesting to try that out. I didn't write down too many notes 'coz I just want to show you how it's like over there. For further info you can read about the Vatican City here.

This second video clip was taken from inside the Colosseum.

The third one was taken from one of the corners of the Colosseum, where we could look outside of the Colosseum. The arch is called the Arch of Constantine and the hill is called Palatine Hill.

The Bears in Kuusamo Predator Centre

OK, as promised, I'm gonna show you two video clips of some of the bears that we met in Kuusamo Predator Centre. Unfortunately in the first video clip the wind was blowing SO hard that I had a hard time remembering what she was saying. Oh well...you can read more info and find more video clips in their website.

Enjoy!!!

Here is a short video clip where R2 got to feed Juuso a candy.

Festetics Palace

One of the free museums on St. Stephen's Day was the Festetics Palace. Concerts are also held here every now and then. Unfortunately we couldn't take any pics of the inside of the palace, but I was really impressed by the LIBRARY!!! It was a gorgeous room with wooden carvings all around the place and the amount of books are just impressive. :-D

Anyway, here are some pictures of the palace building and its surroundings.

This is the entrance of the palace from the shopping street/Centrum:

The palace...

You can see an air balloon in the background near the tower:

Lots of lovely flowers in the garden:

Found this tree near one part of the palace. Not sure what kind of tree it is, though. Anyone???

I thought that the tree resembles an elephant.

We were enjoying the shade provided by the elephant-looking tree (and resting our weary feet):

Here's another view of the palace when the fountain was running:

And here's R2 checking out the sudial. He said it was an hour behind ha ha...

Here are two video clips of the palace. The first one is the palace and its outer garden:

The second one is the palace and the inner garden:

On St. Stephen's Day, the inner garden is closed for public and you can only get inside if you pay a certain fee because they held a wine tasting party in the inner garden, but we didn't get in because we're not wine drinkers he he he...

OK, that's it for today. Hope you enjoyed the pics and video clip. Oh yeah, after getting inside we found out that we could have gotten up to the tower if we paid a certain fee (if not mistaken 500 HUF/person), but we thought we didn't need it because it was supposed to be a free day to tour around the museum. We didn't want to go back there because there were SO many people going inside that day, so we just skipped the whole tower thing.

Keszthely Beach!

We went to the nearest beach in Keszthely a few times. We went swimming there twice. I had known that there was a free beach, but it was farther away and because it was mostly hot there, we didn't really feel like walking all the way there.

The first time we went to the beach, we were just looking around. To my delight, I found so many swans and ducks roaming freely in the shallow water. Here are a few pics outside the beach area (to get inside, you have to pay 920 HUF/person or € 3.4 if I remember correctly):

A pic of us with the swans and ducks:

Another view of the lake from the other side of the walkway:

This is the walkway...

This is the duck food machine:

Feeding the swans and ducks on a different day he he...'coz I just HAD to try the machine HA HA HA HA HA HA...

At the end of the walkway there is this cafe, but we never ate anything there. The end of this walkway is also used for tourists' boats.

Here's one example of the tourist boat and no, we didn't ride on it 'coz we had no time (this kind of boat leaves a few times a day and sometimes for certain boats, they only leave during the evening before sunset):

Here's a video clip of the area outside the beach. Over at the back there is a stage for performers and a few days before St. Stephen's Day on August 20th, there were lots of food and wine stalls as well as a stage for bands. There is also a shady park in the area.

Here's another video of the swans and ducks fighting for food!!!

Balaton lake is really safe for kids because of the shallowness. One has to walk SOOOO far away from the beach to be able to reach more depth. One funny incident happened the first time we went to the beach. Even though there was a tourist info office right next to the beach pay booths, but because we had been there once before and the young men spoke more German than English, I was reluctant to go there and ask again.

The beach pay booths were manned by two older women who obviously didn't speak English. I just raised 2 fingers to pay for our tickets but then after we got in, I realized that I wanted to hire a locker so that we could both swim together without worrying about our money or mobile phones, so we went back to the pay booth and I said to her, "Locker?"

She stared at me with a blank look on her face. I resorted to using body language. I made a box in the air with two hands, then I pretended to put a key in the middle of the box with one hand and then turn the key around. She got it right away!

She gave me a receipt for that and then wrote "18.30" (had to pay 1,300 HUF for that or around €4,8 - a sum that I thought was rather hefty for a key!) and she said some Hungarian words and then she held up a 1,000 forint bill while pointing towards the "18.30" again. I just assumed that if we didn't return the key after 18.30, that meant we would have to pay 1,000 HUF more, but I knew that we wouldn't be staying that long anyway, so we went in and put our important stuff in the locker after paying for two sun chairs.

That first swimming day wasn't as hot as the second one. The temperature was 23'C and the water temperature was 22'C. The second time we went swimming there, the temperature was 33'C whereas the water temperature was 30'C.

Here's the view of inside the beach. Apparently after 6 pm, they opened all the doors so that people could get inside for free (but then most of the people stopped swimming at 6 pm or at the latest at 6.30 pm anyway).

A short video clip of the beach area. Lots of food stalls and beach bars and there was also a small swimming pool somewhere in the area, farther away from where we were sunbathing.

When we returned the locker key, the woman checked the key number in the receipt book and then she returned the 1,000 HUF to me. Ohhhhhh!!! So renting the locker didn't cost THAT much after all, but probably they kept the 1,000 HUF just in case we didn't return the key on time or something.

Here are some more photos in the beach area, just to show you different angles and how shallow the water really is...the first pic is just sunbathing pic hi hi...and we'd always hide under the shade once we got too hot (the second swimming day, though, it was too hot to sunbathe directly under the sun, so we put our sun chairs in the shade). THANK GOD for the shady trees!!! :-D

To be continueddddd...

Air Balloon Ride

OK, now it's time to write about the air balloon ride. This is one of the lifelong dreams that I have on my dream list that I wrote down years and years ago. I'm not really that ambitious about fulfilling all those things on the list, though, but it's just that while browsing about Keszthely on the net, I found the air balloon ride possibility in Balaton area (leaving from Heviz, another town close to Keszthely), so I said to hubby that even though it was rather pricey (€150/person), we'd better try it! :-D

It wasn't what I had expected, but it made me understand more that dreams can be different from reality/the experience. Dreams are made of all the sweet, tasty, nicely-smelling, soft-as-a-cotton-ball, gorgeous idealism in my head without knowing what it's really all about. It may be sweet, but there may be a slight tangy taste as well. Or it may be nicely-smelling, but it's a bit rough on the touch. It may even be bitter with a slight sweet taste only and mostly rough and not smelling like anything at all. It sure opened up my view, though.

I didn't think it would be THAT tough to prepare for an air balloon ride nor would it be that tough to land. After the balloon was almost ready for take off, the wind suddenly changed direction and the people preparing for the ride had to really act quickly to turn it all around and they had to do it all over again - they had to deflate the balloon in order to reposition it and then inflate it again before we were finally ready to take off.

Here are a few photos to show the preparation stage. In the first pic you can see that on the side of the basket there are two "holes" that could be used as steps to get into the basket (which was really important for me 'coz I'm short HA HA...)

Here's a video clip I took when they were inflating the balloon - right before the wind blew it up to the right side of the video and they had to do it all over again:

The take off itself went very quickly and excellently, though. It didn't feel like anything at all. I have motion and sea sickness, so I was a bit afraid that I'd feel dizzy or something, but I didn't feel it at all. In fact, the take off was MUCH better than a plane's take off. The only difference was that we both felt HOT!!! The heat of the burners above us was rather uncomfortable, though it got better once we got high enough and the air temperature around us dropped down. The burners were also so noisy, so it was hard to talk.

Here's a pic of the burners:

Here's one video I took when we got higher...the loud noises you hear is from the burner:

But we could see a gorgeous sunset that took place slowly from high up there as well as the bird-eye-view around the area. Despite the heat, the rather tight space in the basket that made it impossible to move around too much and the noisy burners (and a rather rough landing which I'd tell soon), it was worth it. :-D

After taking plenty of pics and videos (I had to hold on to my camera so tightly for fear that it would drop down ha ha...), we looked into each other's eyes and we both had that certain look that said, "Hey, it's kinda cool up here. I'm SO glad we can experience this together! Marvellous view!" :-D

Here are a few pics from up there. The first pic is the famous Heviz Thermal Lake.

Another view of Balaton Lake...it's such a HUGE lake...

Anyway, the wind picked up when we were preparing for landing, so the pilot told us to hold on with both hands to the ropes that were conveniently hung around the basket. The pilot became so very busy then because he had to use the walkie-talkie to tell the others where his location was so that they could prepare themselves down there as well as checking the wind speed and then he had to pull one of the ropes connected to the balloon so that we didn't graze on a tree that we almost ran into. Apparently by pulling the rope, the balloon then swerved a little bit to the left side of the tree. Phew!

Then we heard a low thud when we landed on a 45 degree angle and then one guy grabbed on to the basket to get it back straight up whereas the other had to grab onto one of the other rope so that the wind didn't blow the balloon back up. Then after securing the basket and the balloon, the pilot told R2 to get out of the basket, then he himself get out of there after a while and finally in the end I was told to get out of the basket. Then they had to pack everything before we could leave. Quite an adventure! :-D

After they had finished packing up, then we had a little ceremony before they took us back to the hotel. We got our certificates (because it was our first air balloon ride) as well as a bottle of champagne. Here are the pics:

And that's a wrap!!! :-D Air balloon ride: check. :-D

Regional Language: Sundanese

While Indonesian language is Indonesia's official national language, but Indonesians have so many regional languages spoken in different areas. While I was a child, I learnt not only Indonesian but also Sundanese by immersion. Sundanese was also taught to us from Elementary School until Junior High School. I don't know how it's like nowadays at schools (not sure if they still teach Sundanese at schools), but if you come to my hometown, Bandung, you'll hear Sundanese spoken all over the place.

As an nation that consists of lots of islands, it's no wonder that people from different islands (and even areas) had their own regional languages (this link says that there are over 300 regional/native languages in Indonsia). And even if you live in the same island, there are still differences dialects, though I guess this is a normal case for other languages in the world as well.

However, basically speaking Sundanese and Indonesian language are two different set of languages. Even if you understand Indonesian language, but if you hear me speak only in Sundanese, you would probably not have a clue what I'm saying (or maybe at the most you'll understand just a few words). If I hear someone use Javanese language or Makassarean language or Balinese language, I won't understand almost all of the words either.

Here's what it's said in Wikipedia: Sundanese Language.

Sundanese has two different forms: the "normal" form (the rather crude form) and the "polite" form. The polite form is really tough to learn (the vocabulary for the polite form is different than the normal form) and most people use the less polite form (or combining the polite and less polite form). If I talk to someone much older than me and they talk to me in Sundanese, I'd feel safer using Indonesian language rather than use the "normal" form of Sundanese. However, it's fine to use the normal form of Sundanese to speak to people your own age or younger than yourselves.

I must tell you, though, that there are so many lovely, expressive words/phrases in Sundanese that are irreplaceable because there are no equivalents of those words/phrases in Indonesian language, so many times when I speak with my friends or Mom, I use a hodgepodge of Indonesian with Sundanese words in between - simply because those Sundanese words can explain what I'm trying to say better than any other words in Indonesian.

One friend of mine spent her childhood in the USA for a few years during childhood because her Dad continued his education there. That also resulted in the loss of those years learning Sundanese by immersion. Even though she did end up learning some Sundanese at school until Junior High, even until now she gets confused if we use too much Sundanese in our emails. Or it'd take her longer time to understand the Sundanese texts compared to Indonesian.

Oh yeah, one more thing about Sundanese - the Sundanese scale comprises of "da-mi-na-ti-la-da" instead of "do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti-do". Before you get all confused, let me introduce you to some Sundanese songs then he he he he he...

First song in two versions (the traditional one and the modern one) called "Mojang Priangan". Mojang = girl (if I still remember correctly it usually refers to an unmarried young woman). Priangan = the area that covers Bandung, West Bandung, Subang, Garut, Purwakarta, and Sumedang.

And another song in two versions as well: the traditional one and a more modern one (with Japanese influence and Japanese words). It's called "Es Lilin". Click here to find out a pic of es lilin.

Dancing Lights

I've been busy due to situations at work, so haven't had time nor energy to do anything much blog-wise, but today I've uploaded some Vienna videos and here are a few chosen ones (to watch more you can just click on my username in youtube).

The first video is a video of dancing lights on a tall building. It's right in front of our hotel window. I had to open the window and sit on the ledge (no balcony) to take this video he he...Every day while we were there this light dances started at 19.30 (7.30 pm) and the pattern kept on changing. That was why it was so interesting to watch it. :-D

The second video is a view of a part of Stephansplatz (the city centre):

OK, I'm pretty tired right now and R2's getting sick ever since he got back from Vienna (his voice has gotten sexier and he's been coughing and feeling weird, you know)...good thing we were both OK in Vienna, but now I'm starting to feel weird, too. So gonna take some time to rest 'coz my work schedule is getting busier again (summer season is approaching fast!!!). So TAKE CARE to everybody and enjoy the videos!

Temple Grandin: Movie Recommendation

Last night I finally got the chance to watch "Temple Grandin". Had been dying to watch it ever since I accidentally saw it in imdb a while back he he...

I HIGHLY recommend the movie. It's now officially one of my fave movies of all time. Claire Danes did a BRILLIANT job on becoming Temple Grandin. I hardly recognized her at all. Even Temple Grandin herself had stated that she was very pleased with Claire Danes' portrayal of herself.

The movie is brilliant in many ways, especially in taking me to view the world through a highly functional autistic woman's eyes. Here's a quote from the movie:

I know I was different, but NOT less!

Anyway, here's the trailer:

And if you're interested in watching this long video clip of the real Temple Grandin (the speech starts at 6:20 if you want to skip the introduction), here goes:

3BT: Random Days

1. An old woman looking so happily surprised to see me at work. She said, "Oh, I haven't seen you in a long time. I'm GLAD you're still working!" ---> Honestly I don't even remember her, but I'm HAPPY to hear that she's SO happy to know that I'm still working in the same place. :-D

2. Free youtube exercise video clips. They really help me in doing different types of exercises when I'm bored with the exercise routines I've been doing.

3. Fast and reliable internet access that enables me to watch those said youtube video clips.

4. Receiving this lovely homemade Christmas decoration present from a friend.

5. More snowwwww!!! And the weekly temperature forecast showing below 0'C even during the day! :-D

6. Watching two squirrels playing in and around the branches of a tree.

7. Cleaning up the snow from the yard. There's something so serene about doing that in the middle of Winter Wonderland.

8. Lovely lovemaking - plus the fact that hubby just knows what to do TENDERLY! :-D

9. Watching "While You Were Sleeping" again that made me feel mushy mushy inside. :-D

10. Hubby buying pizza so that I didn't have to cook he he he he...It's nice not having to cook sometimes. :-D

11. Putting up Christmas lights. (Yep, the picture below #7 is the close-up look of the Christmas lights below)

Arabic Belly Dance Videos

Just in case you wonder what kind of videos I found in youtube, let me share with you the first videos of the two series of videos I found (you can click on the links to find the other parts). Each series consists of 4 videos.

I found them accidentally when I was browsing for some dance aerobics exercises to help burn my calories. They're easy enough for me to follow (I'm not good at dancing), so I hope those of you who've never tried belly dancing before can also enjoy these videos he he...

The first series is called "Arabic Belly Dance Basic Moves". Here's the link to the first part of it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOMtF6irGNg&feature=related

Here's the clip:

The second series is called "Arabic Belly Dance Fat Burning". Here's the link to the first part of it:

Budapest Video Clips: Gellert Hill Area

As promised, here are three video clips that I took around Gellert Hill area. The first one shows the Freedom Bridge, the Central Market Hall, and Gellert Hill before we cross the Freedom Bridge and climb the hill. Here it is:

The second video clip was taken when we had reached the top of Gellert Hill. Pardon R2's weird mimic in the beginning. He thought I was taking a pic of him instead of a video ha ha ha ha...

Third one was taken from another side of Gellert Hill (after we walked past the huge statue of the lady holding a leaf) and the sun had already started to set by then.

OK, hope you enjoy the videos. If for some reasons you can't open the links, here they are:

Praise The Lord!!!!

This is what I feel like...like this video clip:

For those who don't understand Indonesian, I'll share this song instead. It's entitled "God is Able" by Smokie Norful:

Guess what? Yesterday I got a new job contract and this time it's a PERMANENT one!!! I did NOT expect that at all. I thought at the most, I'd only get an extension until the end of this year.

WOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! ;-D

WOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

THANK GODDDDDDDDDDDDD for the opportunity!!!!!!!

Never in my wildest dreams did it ever occur to me that I'd get a permanent job this fast...it's just beyond my comprehension...TRULY TRULY thankful for this opportunity...

Ahem...anyway, let me calm myself down a little he he...Today I went to visit my in-laws without hubby ('coz R2 has to work). I can't visit them on Sat 'coz I have an evening shift (from 12 until around 6.30 pm). It was the first time I had ever visited them on my own. Now that they spend most days in their new rented apartment, which is located nearby (only about 3 km from here), it's easier for me to visit them on my own 'coz I can reach their place by bike. Had fun talking with my MIL and sharing stories with her he he...

OK, now it's time to blog-hop 'coz tomorrow I've got to go to work (saying this while dancing around in joy). ;-D

Crete Diary #3: Animal Video Clips

Yeah, I've been so lazy in uploading the rest of the video clips of our holiday in Crete he he he...but here are some of them. They're all about animalllllssss...

First video clip is about fish eating bread. While we were eating out in one of the seaside restos in Hersonissos area, some other people threw bread to the sea and these fish came quickly to get some he he he...

The link to the video clip if you want to see the HD version with a big screen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_o5E5hro2ck

The second one is about a duck. The duck came nearby to get some share of the bread, too! :-D

The link to the video clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_Cc6DvO99A

The third video clip was taken in Aqua World (The Animal Rescue Centre) in Hersonissos, Crete. It's VERY short 'coz we ran out of space, but you can see it moving clearly. :-D

Crete Diary #3: Agios Nikolaus

During the first week in Crete, we didn't visit this place, but after we got stuck there for another week, we decided to go there. Took the bus from Hersonissos to Agios Nikolaus (it took about 45-50 minutes) and it cost about 3.70 Euros per person if I remember correctly.

Here's the view of the lake in Agios Nikolaus. The water isn't as clear as the sea water around the area, but we could see LOTS and LOTS of fish down there (though it was hard to take clear pics of them due to the unclear water). While walking downstairs towards the lake, I noticed a couple smooching each other behind the trees (you couldn't see them from the lake area). I guess it was a good spot for couples to sit and enjoy the scenery.

This video doesn't do any justice to the beauty of the place. If you're planning to visit Crete, I HIGHLY recommend visiting this place. ;-D There are plenty of restaurants and cafes surrounding the lake.

Here's an unclear pic of the lake just to show you how many fish there were down there (there were also bigger fish):

This is the sea area in Agios Nikolaus (about 1.5 km away from the lake):

Here are some pics we took around Agios Nikolaus area (yeah, this area is filled with LOTS and LOTS of stairs - when we were about to go back to the bus station, we got lost and we were SO tired 'coz we had to go up and down the stairs to find our ways ha ha ha...):

Here's a view of one of the shopping streets in Agios Nikolaus:

Me and a statue...dunno who it was, though. That day the rain poured down for hours until almost midday, so that was why the sky was a bit grey and we were wearing clothes like that ha ha ha ha...the wind could be pretty cold still.

Okie dokie, now I need to prepare some food for tomorrow 'coz I've promised my MIL that I'd cook for everybody so that she can rest. After all, Sunday is Mother's Day, but we'll be celebrating it tomorrow hi hi hi...I'll blog-hop later!

Crete Diary #2

I haven't got too much time 'coz gotta clean up the house a little before our guests arrive. Well, just R2's elder brother and girlfriend for a game night he he...'coz tomorrow's Labour Day. :-D Gonna play Wii or something, I guess. R2 has bought some food and refreshment for us he he he...

Here are two video clips I've uploaded...

1st clip is a view around Hersonissos port:

2nd clip is a view of the ocean, taken from a place on the other side of Hersonissos port:

Hope you enjoy the clips! I'm gonna blog-hop only on Sunday 'coz tomorrow we'll go to my in-laws' place.

The Forgotten Videos

I took these videos last week and I had forgotten to upload them he he he he...so enjoy Winter Wonderland in Lapland, Finland...

The first one is the video of the area across the street from my in-laws' house in Kelujärvi, Finland.

This second one is the video of the frozen lake area in front of in-laws' cabin - you can see the cabin at the end of the clip.

This third video was taken a few weeks ago. My BIL was doing some hard work with a tractor, trying to clean up the snow from the path towards the frozen lake 'coz he wanted to spend a night at the cabin he he he...

Hope you enjoy the video clips!!! Time to do some baking experiment he he he...

Ken in Real Life

Yep, I haven't had time to write about my Indo Trip. I've been busy cooking, baking, and doing other things he he he...

Anyway, Ken in real life is just like what my Mom described him. He's SO active. When I arrived there in the beginning of November, he could walk a few steps without help already, but 'coz he was such in a rush (he always wants to walk SO fast), he still grabbed our fingers whenever he wanted to go around the house. However, about a week before I flew back to Finland, he started walking on his own.

First he started walking with his hands high up (to keep his balance), then every passing day he lowered his hands bit by bit until he could walk pretty normally, though he was still making our hearts skip a beat whenever he tried turning around and round and round after walking (thus making him lose his balance). He also still didn't know how to pace himself yet - his legs went that way whereas his eyes looked the other way...making us have to be WARY of things that might be in his way that could harm him.

So as you can imagine, it's still SO tiring to take care of him 'coz of this phase. I have to admit that I'm amazed at the rate of how a little child learns, though. He can't talk well yet, but he understands so much already. For example if people tell him, "Where's Auntie Amel?" he'd turn to me. He started doing that the day I came to Bandung - it means he recognized me though he had never seen me in real life (but my family had always been pointing to my photo and telling him who I was). And whenever I ask him something (for example "Where's the bear?") he'd point to the right object. Amazing!!! Amazing how the brain thinks...it makes me a bit envious, too...wish I could absorb Finnish THAT fast HA HA HA HA HA HA...

Anyway, it was HARD to take good pics of Ken 'coz he wanted to grab my camera and see himself there, so let me just share the link to Ken's videos. Note that the first 5 videos in the album is my friend's son's videos. I've written down the titles of the videos there.

Ken's Videos

Here are a couple of pics of Ken:

1st pic: He just LOVES umbrellas for some reason. He'd look up at the opened umbrella and just be amazed at it. Funny thing is that my cousin's and friend's sons were also like that at that age.

2nd pic: We were at a a mall and Ken got a balloon. In this pic he kept on waving the balloon around so it was hard to take a good pic of him with us hi hi...

3rd pic: Look at his new hat! HA HA HA...

4th pic: He pretended to cry 'coz he wanted to grab the camera and my bro wouldn't let him hi hi hi...

I'm TOTALLY amazed that such a small child (12/13-month-old child) can PRETEND to cry just to get what he wants. Geez...Once he gets what he wants, he'd drop the act right away and smile.

Ken LOVES playing with us, too, especially hide-and-seek. He'd run to the back of his bedroom door and stand still for a minute or two until one of us tries to find him. He also loves another game of hide-and-seek where he'd jump into the arms of me or his helper or his Mom and then he'd want to be chased by somebody else. For example he's in his Mom's arms and I have to chase him from afar. He'd giggle and laugh and jumps around in his Mom's arms if I do that. And he'd want to repeat the fun over and over and over again he he he...so I have to hide first in the other room(s) and then shout out, "Where's Ken? Where's Ken?" and he'd start jumping in glee right away in his Mom's arms even before I start running towards him to catch him he he he...

One time he wanted to "switch places", so he jumped from the bed to my arms 'coz he wanted his Mom to chase him he he he...I had to hold him really tightly - otherwise he might fall down 'coz he was jumping around in my arms with all his might he he he...it was really fun to be childlike when a kid is around!!! :-D
