What Do You Think of This Story?

World's Oldest Man Turns 112

Hmmm...personally I don't want to live THAT long. A friend of mine who lives in Japan (she married a Japanese guy) was elated to hear that the government had raised child's benefit this year since the birthrate in Japan has been so low these days. She said that her husband's grandfather was still alive and well and was still working. WOW!!! Unbelievable!!!

Personally I also think that the Japanese are VERY creative. I grew up watching their anime and reading their manga. They're AWESOME people he he he he...

P.S. The basic Finnish course went SO well. The teacher seemed to be very attentive to each of our abilities. I think I'm gonna have fun in this class. Plus I get to meet my only British friend here. She enrolled in the course with her husband and eldest son. There were also some other ladies in the class. Two of them are pretty heavily pregnant, by the way!!! Tomorrow's the next class and I'm looking forward to it. Maybe I should bring a camera with me so that I can take a picture of the school and the classroom. We'll see!!! ;-D Good news is that there might be a continuation course next spring. YAAAAAAAAAYYYY!!!! I pray and HOPE that there'll be one!!! ;-D

  13. Amel,

I will respond to your comment on my blog here, if that's okay. That way, I know you'll see it.

I think what it boils down to is, where is your focus? From your first paragraph, I hear me, me, me. I know you don't WANT to be selfish, but I also know that you are feeling a need that is not being met, and it's hard to take your focus off of that need. The problem is, you are looking to your friends to fill that need. They can't, so no matter what you do or how long you wait, you will be met with disappointment.

The answer is found in Christ. God is enough. Period. God is ALL you need. Phillipians 4 tells us that "My God shall supply ALL YOUR NEED according to His riches BY CHRIST JESUS."

I believe that "by Christ Jesus" means that, anything you need is found in and/or THROUGH Him. Does that make sense?

I'd encourage you to increase your time with Him. Do an in-depth Bible study of Philippians. Also, if you can get your hands on a copy of Hannah Whitall Smith's book, "The God of All Comfort", I really think you'd get some answers and blessing from that.

Does this answer your question? I've been lonely before, and I even got to a point where I was bitter at my entire community, feeling like NOBODY cared about ANYBODY. Finally, I decided, I can't change anyone. You know that phrase, "Be the change you want to see"? That's the only way to deal with issues like yours. Be the kind of friend you would like to have. No matter what. Be a friend because it's right, not because you want something in return.

This got rather long. I hope it encourages you!

  14. Kathy and Fish: OK, I'll write about the course sometime today and I'll introduce some words to you he he he...

Jana: THANKS SO MUCH for the reply. Yes, I did feel all the things you said and I knew that I was being selfish, yet I was also drowned in disappointment of expectation.

I just needed someone to tell me point-blank about everything you told me and you did, so I THANK YOU for that. I guess I still need time to let go and yes, only God can help me do that.

The irony is that I'm not really lonely anymore since I have my blog friends, but I become closer to them rather than my regular friends, and it saddens me in a way, though I also can't expect them to be more than they are right now. I guess I need to mourn some more, 'coz honestly, right now I can't be the kind of friend I want to be for them. Not yet.

Anyway, I'll follow your advice and we'll see what happens. THANKS again. ;-D
