To Ponder or Not to Ponder

1. Is it better not to know and keep your peace of mind or is it better to know yet be challenged with choices that might ransack your peace of mind?

Perhaps it's better to follow the steps in life without trying to jump over a lesson or two to make sure you're equipped enough to deal with the "tougher" lessons.

2. On The Future.

I used to be a hell of a planner. I planned every little thing. I LOVED it SO MUCH so that I became so inflexible (I think I'm still somewhat inflexible anyway). I HATE changes. Nevertheless, life's forced me to learn to enjoy the present and let go of my tight clutch on my future plans. I still have some plans for my future, but I learn that it's OK to enjoy the present without worrying about and focusing on my future too much. After all, I can die the next minute or the next hour.

Balancing everything in life is one of the hardest lessons on earth, but one can only try one's best.

So let me end this post with more quotes on the future, taken from Future Quotes:

"Finish each day and be done with it.
You have done what you could;
some blunders and absurdities have crept in;
forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day;
you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit
to be encumbered with your old nonsense.”
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

“One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon - instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today.”
- Dale Carnegie

“Whatever your past has been, you have a spotless future.”
- Melanie Gustafson

“A cynic is not merely one who reads bitter lessons from the past; he is one who is prematurely disappointed in the future.”
- Sydney J. Harri

"I try to learn from the past, but I plan for the future by focusing exclusively on the present. That's where the fun is."
- Donald Trump

  1. 1) Perhaps. But sometimes one can't help but think. Sometimes, you can't help but jump it...

    2) I have yet to learn that. But I look forward to the days of it hehe.

    3) Nice poems. I love the first one, brings back some feelings of nostalgia...

  2. Hi again, Shan!!!

    1) Do you really find it good to jump? Do you find you're ready enough when you've jumped? I don't think I've ever jumped, though he he he...not that I'm aware of, anyway.

    2) Well, if life wants you to learn the lesson, it WILL make you learn it later he he he...

    3) Yeah, I know what you mean, Shan. :-D Glad you enjoyed them.

    THX for being such a diligent commentator. :-D

  3. Awesome quotes yet again! You know that's what I struggle with - life and the future. But I'm learning to love and live in the present.

    Planning is a great way to try and gain 'control' over a situation and make you feel more comfortable. I like a combination of the two - so I can jump at an opportunity when it comes along even if it isn't on the agenda or will mess with the schedule. Balance is the key.

    Cheers!

  4. Hey, Vic!!!

    Actually you're the one who inspired me to write about the topic. The thing you wrote in one of your posts about the future made me think about my view of the future itself. ;-)))

  6. Hi, Epi!

    Going for the lessons, eh? That's GOOD. However, what about the knowledge that you KNOW deep down that would get you in trouble?

    YEP, I love that quotation as well. :-D

  7. Hi Amel

    Just to share one of my own favourite thoughts:

    Dreams are not an ilusion but a reallity waiting to come true;

    This is what i think about future: always positive plans brings and atracks good things.

    And also...i could compare "good" future with good luck i.e. luck would be the result of preparation (planning) plus opportunity meeting

    So if you ask me ... well, plans are trully worth!!!

  8. THX for dropping by, Gallardo!

    Yep, I still think plans are worth it. However, I used to be too caught up with future plans that I couldn't enjoy my present. I kept on planning and planning and thinking of "strategies" and that can't be good he he he...

    I'll drop by your blog later on. ;-)))
