Every now and then hubby and I watch a movie at home. These days it's mostly his choice, so I usually don't know what we're going to watch until it starts he he he...The other day I got the surprise of my life when the movie began and the actors talked in INDONESIAN!!!!!!!!!!
I said to him, "Hey, I don't even have to read the subtitle!!!!"
Turned out that he had found an Indonesian movie to watch he he he he...I must say that it felt WEIRD to be listening to Indonesian again. Sure I still chat with my friends and email them in Indonesian, but it's just text. It's not the same as listening to people talking in Indonesian. I do call my Mom and we talk in Indonesian and Sundanese, but it's been a LOOOONNGGGG time ever since I watched an Indonesian movie or series or whatever.
You wanna know what we saw? We watched "Kala". Turned out it's also listed in imdb: Kala. I must say that the idea of the movie is quite good and the setting is also interesting, though I wish the "horror" effects could be more convincing he he he he he...

Win a Free Handbag!
Read about this handbag entry in Michelle Dawn's blog, so I decided to join in the fun, esp. since you don't have to pay any shipping and handling fee if you win a bag. HUURRAAAHHH!!! ;-D
They're giving away 24 bags in 24 hours when they launch the site. They're going to launch in about 15 days. So, if you're interested, just go to: Handbag Planet, submit your name and email address and choose your handbag. And then keep your fingers crossed and waittttt he he he he he...

Possibility
I did HIIT this morning (tomorrow's my Tae-bo session) and then after lunch I went straight to the library to ask about the training thingie. The manager wasn't there yet when I got there, so they asked me to wait for a little while. Good thing I didn't go there much earlier!!! I woke up later than I expected, so I went there later than I thought I would he he he...but it was actually perfect timing. I only had to wait for about 10-15 minutes.
The manager said that she had to ask her superior about this, but she thought that it would be possible. She asked me about my background: where I worked before, my language skills, etc. I told her that I was truly interested in doing the training there if I could. Then she told me about this "Halloween night" that they would do in the library. She thought it would be interesting if I could do a little presentation of all the ghost stories from Indonesia. Plus it would be good practice for me since I'd have to tell it in Finnish.
Well, I'm considering translating and writing them down in Finnish, though I'd have to read it from my notes. I can't possibly remember all those words he he he he...but it'd be interesting to tell those stories. After all, I'm a BIG fan of horror movies!!!
We'll see how it goes then. First of all I should know sometime this week whether or not I can do the training there. The manager said she'd call me sometime this week. So keep your fingers crossed, friends HE HE HE HE HE HE...
OK, now I have to cook and start doing the research and then blog-hop later tonight. Even if I don't get to tell the stories in Finnish, I can still write them down in my Finnish blog. Good practice for me no matter what!!!

Shopping Plan + BP Test
I'm going to do my last minute shopping with my MIL on Wednesday. She wants me to pick something for my Mom he he he he...BLESS HER!!! We're also going to go to a reindeer meat store to buy some for my parents. I'm not going to buy too much since I have limited space in our suitcases and since they're not too cheap, I'm only going to buy some for my nuclear family HI HI HI HI HI...Ahem!
We also did blood pressure test this evening. Arttu and I took it right after we came out of sauna. I was thinking that my blood pressure would be bad since we just came out of sauna, but turned out it wasn't bad at all HE HE HE HE HE...
I don't know how accurate an electronic blood pressure test is, but here're my results:
Systolic : 101
Diastolic: 66
Pulse: 71
According to this chart, my blood pressure is excellent. WOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!! I hope it's true ha ha ha ha ha...
Well, that means I'd better stick with my exercise regime. I've been doing HIIT several times now (combined with Tae-bo on alternate days) and it feels GOOD. ;-D At least I feel that even though I still eat snack in the evenings every now and then, my trousers don't feel any tighter hi hi hi hi...

Packing
It's been below 0'C during the nights for a few days already. Hubby said that early this morning it snowed, though during the day as the temperature rose, it changed into rain. I've started packing since last night. I bought some more stuff yesterday, but I still haven't bought the last-minute thingies he he he...I'll do it only sometime next week.
I'm not going to bring too many clothes with me, though. I need to buy new trousers in Indo and also some underwear. ;-D It's hard for me to find pants here since the children's size is too tight for my womanly hips, whereas the adult size is too long or too wide. At least in Indo if I want to shorten any pants, the cost would be CHEAP!!! ;-D
On Monday I'm going to go to the library to ask if there's a possibility for me to do some training there after I get back from Indo. The unemployment office has been asking me to either apply for a job or find another training place or find some other course.
I don't want to get a job yet since I don't know what I want to do. Plus I'm still waiting for next year just in case they open the Finnish continuation course. I'll DEFINITELY enroll to that course if it opens next year. If not, then we'll see what I can do. However, it's good if I can do some training in November-December at the library, since I AM interested in helping out there.
Cross your fingers so that I can do my training there, please he he he he...OK, time to blog-hop!!!

Movie Review: The Happening
Have you seen the latest M. Night Shyamalan's movie The Happening? I think it's okay, MUCH better than Lady in the Water and slightly better than The Village, but not as great as The Sixth Sense or Unbreakable.
I thought that the beginning of The Village and The Happening were as engaging and exciting, but I don't really like the ending of The Village, since I felt as though I were being tricked, even though I knew those people had a valid reason to do the things they did. But still...I rate the ending of The Happening to be slightly better, even though it was predictable, but at least I didn't feel like being tricked he he he he he...
So, of all those movies, here's my rating:
1. The Sixth Sense.
Simply superb!!! Didn't think that he was a ghost he he he...
2. Unbreakable.
I just LOVE the idea of the extreme poles: the good and the bad (the hero and the bad guy).
3. The Happening.
4. The Village.
5. Lady in the Water.
How about you then? What do you think of the above movies if you've seen them all?
P.S. Hey, Shyamalan is thinking about making a sequel to Unbreakable!!!! YAAAAYY!!! I'll definitely watch it if it comes out later he he he he he...

Skin Problem
I've been having acne problem again, which went from worse to worst about a few weeks ago. That was when I decided to change my daily moisturizer. I used to buy a cheap moisturizer, since I really didn't want to pay more if my skin had no problem with it. Since I stopped taking birth control pills, for a few months I experienced horrible acne breakout. The problem got less and less worse as time went by, but the past few weeks it still bothered me so much. Glad to say that ever since I changed my daily moisturizer to a medium-priced one, my skin looks and feels better.
Well, I also decided to wash my face with a different face wash, not acnexus acne scrub, but a milder face wash. I also still try to squeeze out the blackheads that cover my skin regularly since I have big pores. I miss having facials!!! Maybe in Indonesia I should go and have a facial once, but we'll see about it. At least now I've seen improvement after changing the moisturizer and the face wash. :-))))

Flash Back: More Tears
After doing the meme yesterday, I suddenly remembered something else that happened while hubby and I were apart for 4 months after our wedding and honeymoon.
Let me give you a short timeline:
March 2004 - We met for the first time and we were together for 2 weeks.
October/November 2006 - He came to Indonesia to marry me on November 3rd. He stayed in Indo for about 3 weeks.
March 2007 - I moved to Finland.
Our wedding night felt...surreal in a way. After he helped me take over 50 pins off my hair, I thought to myself, "Now we're really husband and wife? Now we can make love? Really?" It just felt strange, especially since we had been apart for 2 years and 7 months prior to our wedding night. Our first love-making was funny and also sweet he he he he he...It was so hard to "do it", so to speak HI HI HI HI HI HI...but we managed to do it in the end after a few laughs! LOL!!!
Now I get sidetracked. After he got back home to Finland, we resorted back to chatting and calling each other up. Since it was SO hellish for us to be apart, I decided to say, "I love you" over and over and over again right when he picked up the phone to cheer him up. I was already smiling even before I dialed his number, thinking that he would laugh...
You know what happened when I kept on saying "I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you..." right after he picked up the phone?
Silence. Total silence.
I was confused. I stopped saying the words and I said, "Hello? Are you still there?"
I heard a very small voice, choked in tears, "Yeeessss...?"
Dear Lord!!! I made him CRYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wanted to hold him right then and there and tell him that everything would be okay, but I couldn't. I wanted to cry so hard, but I was afraid it'd make him even sadder. After all, you'll feel sadder when your loved one is sad, right? So I tried to be strong and I let him calm down while I babbled to calm him down so that he didn't have to speak since I knew he couldn't speak yet.
Ahhhhh...I never want to go through that again, even though now it's become such a TOUCHING memory. Gosh, I REALLY love that guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I'm HAPPY 'coz now I can hug him whenever I want to. YIIIPPPPPPPPIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEE!!!! ;-D

Reminding Something
A little while ago hubby joined Facebook since his gaming buddies are there. He wanted to add this world map showing all the cities he had visited. Then he asked me, "Which city did I visit in Cyprus?"
LOL LOL LOL!!! He didn't even remember the name of the city!!! At first I also forgot about it. He went to Cyprus with his parents and second brother in 2000 and he sent me a postcard from there. Back then we had started chatting and emailing each other regularly.
Anyway, I was trying to jog my memory to remember the name of the city, but to no avail. Then he started browsing for the names of the cities in Cyprus and when I saw some of them, I knew it right away. I pointed to "Protaras" and I yelled, "This is it!!! This is the city you went to!"
He asked, "Are you sure?"
I replied, "YES!!! Absolutely! I remember the name now!"
So he added the city to his world map in Facebook hi hi hi hi hi hi...I LOVE being useful even for little things like this. :-D

Traveling With an RV
During summer in Finland, motorhomes are a common sight here as people from Southern Finland come to Lapland to relax in their own cabins or in rented cabins. Remember our long car trip to Pori and Helsinki last July? Well, whenever I remember that trip, I always thought to myself that it'd be nicer if we could do that with an RV.
After all, there are plenty of camping sites all over Finland where we can park our RV and rest during the night with a lower cost. Plus we can bring more food stock and I can sometimes prepare our food on my own, which in the end would also reduce the expenses. Since the price of gasoline has gone up, it's wiser if we can cut expenses here and there if we want to have a holiday, right? Cooking your own food is always cheaper than buying it from a fast food restaurant or a regular restaurant every time you're hungry.
During my training at the local tourist info office, I've also seen some tourists coming in with RVs. I don't know if some of them brought their own RVs to Finland or they rented it, but it seemed really handy. They could even bring their bicycles at the back of the RV, so in case they wanted to enjoy nature by biking, they could do it right away.
I think travelling around Finland with an RV in summer is a good idea, especially if you're the kind of person who likes being on the road without spending too much money by renting hotel rooms and buying food in restaurants all the time. And if you've got a video camera, you can record all the cities and camping places you pass by as a remembrance of your travel. Who knows maybe someday I'll buy one? ;-D

Getting Excited
Oh dear...so many things to do still!!! I must start writing a list of things to do, things to buy, things to eat and I also need to start packing tonight so that I know how much space I have left. I still want to buy some things before we go if we still have some space for it he he he he...I can't believe it's only about 12 days left!!! WOOOHHOOOOOOOOOO!!!
I have some fear too, though...about the crazy traffic in Indo, the weather...and I also have to bear in mind that there are many pickpockets there, so I HAVE to be really wary. I've really started to get used to feeling safe whenever I go around here, so my guard has been down.
What else? Hmmm...I should also buy some frozen food before we fly to Indo 'coz then our fridge will be empty by the time we get back to Finland. Then I also need to burn my photos to a CD so that my parents can see all the unsent photos (they're using a modem, mind you, so I daren't send too many pics to them, and even if I do send them pics, I have to resize them so that the file sizes are small enough).
5. How about after your marriage?
Uhhhh...too many to count. It's the little things that he does for me, for example: he warms up my part of the bed and my blanket before I get to bed, he held me tightly while I was crying and he didn't give me any "Mr. Know-It-All" advice, he wants to have a baby with me, etc.
6. Share your lowest period of your life with him.
When we were apart for 4 months after our wedding as I had to wait for my residence permit in Indo. It was HEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!
7. Share your happiest moment with him.
When we make love HE HE HE HE HE HE...It's hard to write down only ONE happiest moment since there are many and I don't want to take them for granted.
8. Share your saddest moment with him.
Again when we were apart. We're always stronger when we're together. Don't wanna be apart from him anymore. If it's only a few days due to business trip or something like that, then it's OK, but I can't bear to be apart from him for a long period of time. No, siree!!!
9. Share your angriest moment with him.
When he keeps on saying, "We'll see", even though I want him to plan something with me he he he he he he...But I'm getting used to this now, so it doesn't bother me as much anymore. I know now that those words don't mean "no".
10. Share your funniest moment with him.
We have plenty of funny moments. Sometimes when we watch a movie together at home, we'd "create" a different (read: wacky/crazy) story together. And other times we'll sing crazily or dance crazily in front of each other. We'd do anything to make each other laugh. ;-D
11. Share your most frustrated moment with him.
Whenever he says "We'll see" hi hi hi hi...Or when he keeps on gaming even though I've asked him to watch something together he he he...
12. Lastly, when was the last time you two hold hands and walk under the moonlight, like how you used to do?
Like we used to? HAH!!! We didn't have a normal relationship, so now we hold hands every time we watch a movie at home and when we're walking downtown or in my MIL's yard, we also hold hands. It's like a retaliation since we never got to do that while we were dating HI HI HI HI HI HI HI...

Since my mind's blank, let me just do this meme which interested me ever since I read it at Juliana RW's blog he he...
1. In which month and year did you met your husband for the first time?
March 2004.
2. In which month and year did you two officially starting dating?
October 4, 1999.
3. Where was the first dating place the two of you went to?
Hmmm...Ice Castle in Kemi in 2004.
4. What was the most touching thing he did to you when you two were still dating?

Accident Update + My Check-Up
Went to my friend's house today and learnt from another friend that the girl who was in the swing accident in my earlier post is now recovering from the fall. She is now able to eat. I hope there's no damage, though, concerning her brain ability in the future.
At my friend's place, I also heard news about the shooting in southern Finland. It happened again!!! At least until then I heard that 9 people were killed. This is SOOOOOOOOOO crazyyyyy!!! Why do people do such a thing??? I think the government should really be careful about giving gun licenses to people. Maybe before being given a license, they should pass a psychological test first or something. Scarrrryyyyyy!!!
Anyway, let's change the topic:
Today I received a note from the local health centre. It's an invitation for a womanly check-up at the gynecologist to rule out cancer. I'm registered to have the check-up on Friday, October 3rd. If I need to change the time and date, I'm allowed to do it, but I think I'll just leave it like that. It'll be my very FIRST personal check-up. I hope it's not going to hurt too much!!!
OK, time to blog-hop!!!

Accident In the Playground
Last Saturday when I was at my in-laws, my MIL's mobile rang (remember that in Finland these days there are only a FEW people who have regular home phone as using mobile phones is FAR cheaper), so she picked it up and at the end of the call, her eyes got wet. I knew something was wrong, but I didn't ask right away as she was getting ready to go to her godson's 50th birthday party.
When she was almost ready, she got out and she told us about an accident at a playground in a daycare. Apparently a niece's daughter, who was 2 years old, was on the swing in the playground and for some reason she fell down and she was taken to the ER right away. If I remember correctly, she was unconscious when she was taken there and preliminary examination showed that there was some bleeding in the brain. Uuuuuhhhh...isn't this one of the scariest moments for parents?
While I was listening to it, I had goosebumps already and I really felt for them. My MIL said that they're keeping her "asleep" even though she's conscious already since perhaps they're afraid that the bleeding may get worse. I certainly hope that she's going to get better!!!!!
OK, I'm soon off to my friend's house for our weekly Finnish meeting and I'll blog-hop later, OK? Take care and I hope that to those of you who have kids, that God will protect them and keep them safe from harm!!!!!!!!

Annoying Dreams
Lately I've had annoying dreams. Let me tell you about two of them.
1. In my dream, my ENTIRE upper and lower teeth started to get loose and they started to slide down bit by bit. I tried to keep them in place, but they kept on sliding down...bit by bit...I panicked!!!!!! I wasn't ready to lose ALL my teeth at the same time, pleaseeeeee!!!
God helped me by waking me up HE HE HE HE HE HE...Phew!
2. I've had a couple of dreams where I'm back in Indo with hubby, but we're not married yet. We're just preparing for our wedding, but for some weird reason I can't find hubby. He doesn't stay at my parents' place (like what happened in real life when he came to Indo to marry me), but he's staying somewhere far away.
I woke up frustrated and I accused hubby of having been MIA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA...
Funny thing was that when I told him about the second dream today, he told me that it was I who "left" him in his dream. He was sitting outside the post office, watching TV and I wasn't there with him.
Gee...weird weird dreams!!! Could it be that our Dream Catcher hanging right above our bed that's doing its job well? ;-D

Downtown Sodankylä Video Clip
On Saturday I took a video clip of downtown Sodankylä, especially the main street he he he...and I tinkered with it a bit. I managed to add some music (since my microphone doesn't work anymore, so I can't record any sound or voice) and a little bit of info about the places there. You can see one part of the river which pics you loved so much from my previous post. However, make sure you brighten up your monitor since I took the video when it was around 8 pm, so it's a little bit dark ha ha ha ha ha...
In the video clip you can see how "small" Sodankylä is HA HA HA HA HA HA...
The song is "Will You Be There (In The Morning)?" by Heart. Enjoy the video clip!!!

Web Hosting Articles
I'm currently considering having my own domain, but I still need to do some research before I decide anything. I find this useful web hosting articles, such as what things you should consider when buying cheap hosting and tips on domain name strategies. They've also listed the most trusted web hosts in 2008, including the pricing, space, and reviews.
WOW! I can't believe there's web hosting as cheap as $3.95 with unlimited traffic and space and it's listed as the second most trusted web host in 2008!!! I really should read more articles from this website as they have really informative articles, tips, and tricks. And if you're also thinking of having your own domain or buying a new one, why don't you check it out?

Last week my MIL showed me a small "cat" pillow made by hubby when he was 7 years old hi hi hi hi hi...I found it charming, since at that age I wouldn't be able to make such a thing. Wanna take a look at it? Here it is:

3BT: Random Days
1. Sweet hot milk tea on a cool day. Yum yum...it warms me up from the inside.
2. Tickling hubby's back all over and then scratching away the itch and hearing him purr in delight HO HO HO HO HO...MEOW!!!
3. Hubby doing the same thing to me this morning. And I purred in delight too HA HA HA HA HA HA HA...
4. Feeling a little bit frustrated when I saw the list of vocabulary and word changes (pages and pages long) I had to learn by heart in my grammar book, but I managed to drive it away with my determination and I managed to scream inside, "I AM NOT GIVING UP, you hear?!?!?!?! Just you wait and see in the next few years!!! I AM going to conquer YOU!!!"
5. Being able to take a nap without any interruption. :-))))
6. Feeling useful. No more explanation needed, right? ;-D

Idols
I've seen American Idol, Indonesian Idol, and Finnish Idol. These days they're showing Finnish Idol preliminary rounds on TV. One interesting thing I noticed while watching these preliminary rounds is the fact that they don't show anybody cursing or badmouthing the judges after they get out of the room.
I've seen MANY Americans and Indonesian cursing and badmouthing the judges once they get out of the room and once the judges say that they're not good, EVEN though it's the truth that they can't sing.
I don't know if it's because people in Finland don't curse or badmouth on TV or they cut off that portion or because it's not the "custom" for Finnish people to do such a thing. I'd love to find out the truth about this...anyone care to share some insight with me? HE HE HE HE HE...

High School Revisited
In High School, I wrote quite a lot of English poems. Ever since Junior High School, I started writing this small journal book in English. Why? One reason was that I wanted to practise my English. I wrote the journal also with plenty of acronyms (esp. about those guys I had a crush on HA HA) so that if my parents or somebody else happened to find the book, they wouldn't really understand what or who I was talking about he he he he...That was also the second reason why I wrote plenty of poems. I could use symbolisms and disguise my real content.
I'll never forget the time when one of my classmates asked me to write poems for him to give to his girlfriend. We were on our first grade in High School back then. I was SO pleased, so I did my very best to write a love poem in English he he he he he...Why? Because the girlfriend was a very intelligent girl (she was always the top three in her class) and her English was GREAT, so I had to write the poems well. Otherwise that just wouldn't do, would it?
I don't remember anymore if I wrote more than one love poem for him, but what mattered most was that he had asked ME to write it for him. :-)))) It was such an honour!
What happened to the couple? They eventually broke up. Now the girl's got two kids already and the guy's still not married, though he's in a relationship. :-))))
A few days before my wedding day (after Arttu arrived in Bandung), I gave my journal book to him so that he could read "my soul". :-)))) He had fun reading it and he asked me some of the acronyms and symbolisms the next day he he he he he he he...
Now that journal's here at home, safe in the cabinet. And my current journal is this blog of mine...I'm sharing my soul with all of you...I no longer need to write poems, since I want you to understand who I am, where I came from, and why I'm who I am...

Lucky Me!!!
Called my Mom earlier and found out something that really TOUCHED me deeply. I think a while ago was the Moon Cake Festival thingie for the Chinese, right? Well, I'm VERY fond of chocolate-filled Moon Cake. However, of course I can't get it here in Sodankylä.
When my Mom received one from Shen's mother (Shen is my brother's wife), my Mom said to her, "Ohhhh...this is Amel's favourite Moon Cake."
A few days after that, Shen said to my Mom, "I've ordered some chocolate-filled Moon Cake for Amel, since the expiry date is December."
I almost wanted to CRY when I heard that. I can't believe I'm gonna be able to eat Moon Cake when I'm back in Indo HUE HE HE HE HE HE HE HE...
MOON CAKE, HERE I COMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!
Am I lucky or what?????????? BLESS YOU, Shen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Childhood Revisited
Last night I started thinking about me years and years back...I wanted to remember what kind of girl I was back then. So here are some tidbits about me he he he...
1. Mom said that when I learnt how to walk (around 9 months old), I NEVER fell down. Not even once. Whenever my feet got shaky and I was about to fall, I always found something to grab or hold on to.
This is probably the earliest sign of a lifetime fault in me: that if I can, I don't want to "fall" when learning something new. I think I've managed to tone down a huge part of this fault, but it's not easy since even when I was a baby, I was THAT kind of baby.
2. In my generation, schools only started teaching English from the first grade of Junior High School (when students are around 13 years of age). Back then I started taking English lessons at a course since I was 10 years old.
I used to love pretending as an English teacher to my neighbours' kids. I only taught simple "lessons" such as the names of days, colours, and fruits or veggies in English. I remember having this small blackboard where I could use to "teach" hi hi hi hi...
Hmmm...does it mean that I have always loved teaching? HE HE HE HE HE...
3. I was a horrible toddler (esp. compared to my brother who's an angel baby). Whenever my Mom took me to take a nap and sometimes she fell asleep with me, if I woke up before her, sometimes I'd poke her eyes or nose he he he he he...Other times I just ran out of the front door, making my Mom PANICKED when she woke up and realized that I wasn't in the house!!!
She said that even though the front door was locked, for some reason I managed to climb onto a chair to open it. I sure hope when I have a kid (kids) someday, they won't be like me when I was a toddler HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA...
One question, though: What were you like when you were kids, my friends? Do you still remember?

Autumn Photos + Pets
Went to my friend's house today armed with my digicam ha ha ha ha...since I'd be walking past the river, I thought it'd be a good idea to take some pics near there, so enjoy these pics!!! While I was at my friend's place, I also snapped three pics of her pets hi hi hi hi hi...
First pic: a three-coloured tree.
Well, too bad it went cloudy when I went to the bridge near the river, but I hope these are clear enough.
Note to Michelle: If you want me to send you the original size of one of these photos, just tell me, OK? ;-D I've resized all of these he he he he...
Pay attention to below's pic, everybody. The yellow X mark is to show you where my friend and I sat on a certain day on Midnight Film Festival. The other fuschia X mark is to show you where some people dived in naked into the super cold water (click on the link to read the post I wrote) hi hi hi hi hi...
As comparison, here are some pics of the river taken last year (June 2007):
Next pic: Fluffy sleeping funnily hi hi hi...
The last two pics are of Dexter the dog and two cats. ;-D Note that we had to tinker with Dexter's eyes in the below pic since he had red eyes due to the flash. :-(((( His original eye colour you can see from the last pic he he...
