Perspectives, Everyone?

Sometimes I just want to shake my head when I read some pages on the internet. Have you read some of the comments people write down underneath some youtube video clips?

For example the video clip is about a famous female singer. Some people praise her as high as the stars, some others bash her with nasty words, some others make inappropriate comments on her, some others bash those who comment nastily, and some more others bash those who bash those who comment nastily. Gee, what a world we live in!

I'm SO glad that I have never received a nasty comment in my blog. I sure hope it stays that way. *grin*

Another time I stumbled upon a love story and there's a SUPER LONG list of comments. Some people think it's one of the greatest love stories ever, some others try to rationalize it with psychological terms, some others think what the person does is stupid, some others bash other people whose opinions they disagree with, some others complain that the whole discussion ruins the whole story, etc.

Ayayayyyy...if people debate that heatedly over such a "trivial" matter (read: simply about their likes and dislikes), what would happen when they talk about "serious" matters? Honestly speaking, sometimes when I read a long list of comments like the one I mentioned above, it felt as though I was watching some kind of chaotic debate contest where nobody actually wins. Madness!!!

I'm not saying that you shouldn't speak up or write your opinion. I'm just saying that there's gotta be a more civilized way to agree to disagree, don't you think so? Or maybe I'm too idealistic here? Hmmm...

Anyhow, this is just another rambling post of mine. Basically speaking, I've met WONDERFUL bloggers ever since I first started having this blogspot blog, so I THANK everybody who's been visiting me and who's been really positive. :-D

You're all A JOY to have in the blogosphere!!!

  6. Hi Amel!

    Excellent article!!!!!!

    Very thought provoking!

It is interesting what you say about Youtube I have been developing an article about it and the subculture around it as opposed to the typical Blogger subculture. They are quite distinct.

Have you ever noticed that people that come across your blog from Google and other search engines rarely leave comments as opposed to other Bloggers who often do?

The nature of your blog is very upbeat just like you are and you don’t often have controversial articles (this may potential be the first I have read LOL) so comments here are similar to that approach.

Personally I very much like the way things are on your blog but I also like blogs that are very challenging of my ideas. Blog conversations actually have some similarity to in-person conversations. People may debate ideas but then if a person sees they do not have the ability to defend a poor idea they may then commit a form of character assassination upon others…I have no problem with people trying to rip apart my ideas but they should be respectful of the person as a person, humans have an innate value as they are created in the image of God and we should respect this. Of course there are some that take a challenge simply to their ideas as a personal attack; they like to play the “martyr card”….

While saying that I am quite surprised at how civil Bloggers are! I think though that this may be part of the birds of a feather thing. Blogger etiquette is usually quite good because most of the time people go to blogs they agree with, there is more fire at blogs that attract a greater diversity of viewpoints.

For example most of the very large Christian blogs have mostly if not almost entirely Christians on them. The conversation then is more “in-house”. It is not as common for a blog to be inhabited by many different belief systems that hold contrary opinions, and at the same time those kinds of closely held beliefs are openly challenged, but in a respectful manner…

I recently had a Latter Day Saint (Mormon) on my blog complaining that they are not treated as Christians by Christian Churches. I listed some theological issues that separate Christians from the LDS and they became very offended (although the veracity, truthfulness or accuracy of my comments was not challenged)…While I respect the right to hold opposing viewpoints I believe that everybody is entitled to that right including myself. I also believe that defense of the truth is a legitimate form of expression as long as it is about the ideas and not a personal attack….

Clearly in Scripture Jesus, Paul and others used strong language to make their points at times….

    What do you think?

  8. People like to give their opinions. When there's too much of it, tension arises and clashes happen. There's too much of this happening around the world. All because of words and opinions.

  9. Well, I can only say that people have the right to say whatever they want to say. right?

This is a very sweet way of saying thank you to your visitors. Amel, you are such a very kind soul!

  10. amel, am glad i can never connect to you tube. hehehe.

but anyway, this post just confirm the saying:

you can't please everybody. no two minds are the same. what good for me may be bad for one and so on. right?

    have a nice day!

    just blog hopping!

  11. You're most welcome, Amel. :)

I 100% agree with you about the comments I've read in youtube like who's the best singer from these '2countries'. It's not a normal discussion because these uncivilized people would hit on each other's races as well just because they claimed that their singers have the greatest voices and all that!!! It's quite offensive.

  12. Kathy: Yeah, me, too! ;-D

LS: Yeah, funnily enough, I do notice that people who come across my blog from Google have never really left comments. I had around 70 visitors per day but I only get comments from my blogger friends he he he...

And I realize that my posts have never been too controversial he he he he he he he...

I ENJOY reading your comment. :-))) And yes, I was actually wondering about "birds of a feather flock together" thingie he he he...now you've confirmed that for me. :-))))

I have NOTHING against people defending their beliefs, especially when it's about religious matters or morality matters. What I want to emphasize in this post is merely about how people bash each other simply of a matter of tastes.

And that got me wondering about how people debate over more serious stuff he he he he...Personally speaking, I agree with you about defense of the truth. I actually like the way you and Max express your ideas. You have different opinions, yet I can feel that you respect each other as humans. :-))) That's what I like seeing in "debates". You can have as LONG debates as you want to, yet at the end of the day, you respect that person.

Jay: HA HA HA HA HA HA HA...LOL!!! OK, if you INSIST on getting a spot in my record book, I will then he he he he...

JAY CAM - First Offense in My Blog: Writing Nasty Comments! BEWARE OF HIM!

There! Happy now? HE HE HE HE HE HE HE...

Blur Ting: Yeah, that's my point! ;-D You have to use your words responsibly. If you're trying to defend something that is useless (such as I really like artist A, but you don't), then what's the whole point of doing it?

Sunshine4Life: HA HA HA HA...Well, you don't have to read the comments below youtube video clips he he he...

And you're right that you can't please anybody. ;-D

Choc Mint Girl: Yeah, that's EXACTLY what I mean. So you've noticed the comments, too? It's pretty crazy indeed...nationality is one thing, but c'mon, be civilized, shall we? HE HE HE HE HE HE HE...
